Control Resonant

I enjoyed my playtrough and the crazy level design, there were many good moments. At the same time I got stuck in so many places so had to resort to using guides as I didn't want to spend too much time running like a headless chicken, perhaps more that I would like to. This studio just makes banger after banger, hopefully more good games from them to come.

Small tip from a tutorial that's easy to miss: try to buy the other weapons sooner rather than later even if you don't plan to use them, owning them gives a nice boost to your overall power.

I've been hooked on the game and almost finished now I think, also... cozy elevators! :)

Seems my Unsupervised Science quest is bugged. Has anyone completed this, and did you have all the lootable notes from the world before you did? It's the only thing I can think of needing done, and cba to go hunting for where they all are since completing the missions removes the location from your map.

I happened to come across one of the test facilities by chance and seem to have the others marked on my map for that quest, but haven't done it yet. I'm unsure what you mean regarding the notes though.

After finishing the story I plan to just go do the last (I think) Resonant and all the arcade machine challenges levels, not usually a 100% guy so may not do all the side-quests but some have been really good/amusing.

I can't remember if I had all the notes or not but I did finish the quest. What bug are you encountering?

I take a
right down the tunnel that doesn't have a name on it, and the fuse box looks busted. Cant remember if I already whacked it. Then when I go back, I always turn into a post when I try to go down the middle route to finish the quest.

Yeah that does sound bugged to me.

I took a right, smashed the fuse box which turns off the device that turns you into things then went down the middle.

I finished it this eve. It, weirdly, didn't feel as weird as the last game. Some of the missions with the patterning were brain busting but I got used to it towards the end and just got on with it. Spoiler notice in my paragraph below.

The final boss was kind of boring. It wasn't hard it was just long. Jesse being in a coma at the end gives me hopes for a mixed third installment with Jesse and Dylan playable, along with their respective play styles. That would be bloody good.

Big update available with lots of fixes and improvements

Nice performance improvements in this, but FYI it also seems to have introduced one or two issues with quests getting stuck for some people.

EDIT:

Finished the story - most fun I've had since RE9/Pragmata this year I think, enjoyed every minute. Overall a clear step up over the first game imo even if the setting & story is a bit less intriguing this time. I liked how the story progressed and concluded though, many things got answered with enough left open for interpretation.

Yeah I agree the
final boss was a bit underwhelming, and in general I think bosses were a weakness even if they were mostly kinda cool conceptually. I'm really hoping for some meaty DLC in the future(surely it'll happen??) but I doubt we'd be lucky enough for Jesse's status to change

Getting towards the end now I think. The what I guess is the final zone is a bit headache inducing though :D Really enjoyed it, definitely up there with one of my GOTY, the level design is standout and I am enjoying it more than control, also may like it more than AW2 as well.

Some DLC would be welcomed but I can't see
Jesse waking up, I agree.

I beat all 6 resonants without much of a fuss, and did the first hedron when I was too low of a level. The game teetered a lot between too easy and too repetitive. There's no point giving an enemy a big health bar other than making the player grind. Attack patterns or behaviours didn't really evolve like a Souls game.

Spore burst was so OP because it gave a long range weapon with a status effect.

Agreed that the designs were the standout element of each resonant. Truly unique.

I have a feeling I am going to struggle in this game.

I played the game for the first time yesterday up to just after the first boss.

The bit I found hard was I was not really able to dodge any of the attacks and just ended up in a button mashing competition with the boss.

If every boss is like that its gonna be a long game...

I wouldn't worry about it, the first boss catches most people off guard and, particularly so early in the game, the moves are tricky to read. I've beaten a number of bosses since and the first one remains the one I died to the most.

You would too if you were still gaming on a 2080 at 1080p on medium lol

Not sure I could go back to 1080...not that I am a graphics luster, its just that I couldnt go back to that sort of resolution, everything would feel so cramped, yet so huge and so grainy.

I found the combat is at it's best when you are forced to move around and navigate more, which doesn't happen too much really until the late game and post game challenges.

Just finished the last challenge I had left to do and this bug happened during it lol (timestamped 6:26)
... messy but still managed it

It will depend on what abilities/weapons you choose I guess but I found enemy health was about right after the early game. I actually reduced my damage % in settings and turned up the enemy damage to 150% and enemy aggression to High for most of the game. I set it back to normal for the Shum score challenges and the Co-Director fight though. There are a bunch of abilities I never tried as I never used the reset option, I didn't try the one you mentioned there.

I really enjoyed the combat overall and how it feels, but more enemy patterns/variance and attack/combo variety for Dylan would have been nice though.

Interesting, I'm fully done with the game but had no idea there was a weapon swap wheel... also you seem to use the hammer most - it was my 2nd weapon for the full playthrough but I only ever used it to break mould armour in the end. The daggers + fire had every mob faltered within 3-4 hits in the end. (I woulda blitzed the mission you were showing within a minute :P)
