This is what is in my 201 now, it’s an all AMD themed 2012 (ish) build.

FX 8350
32GB DDR3 1886 Corsair Dominator Platinum
Asus Crosshair V Formula Z
Crossfire XFX 7970
Corsair 850 PSU
1TB HDD / 256GB SSD

I built it for fun really, and to use as a backup machine when my main one is apart or waiting for upgrades etc.

Hard drives moved up in to the optical bay area with a 120mm intake fan, frees up the space for the 2x 80mm intakes for the GPU’s. Will soon be making a replacement acrylic panel with a 140mm fan to help exhaust the heat from the two GPU’s.

Case was fully polished inside (I regretted it as soon as I started, it’s not quick work!).

Beautiful job rare! Twelve years ago I posted my i7 965 Black Widow build here and I still have the case (still have the i7 too :D) - I've recently started cleaning it up with the intention of doing a video retrospective on the Black Widow especially but the ATCS range in general for the Widow's 20th anniversary (2023) - stay tuned for 'Black to the Future Part II' around then ;)

P.S. any Overclockers with ATCS cases that would like to contribute photos and/or video for this retrospective, please get in touch!

Thanks mate! I’m jealous, I always wanted a black widow - I’ve searched for years can’t find one for sale! I would happily share some better pictures, I’ve also got a 210 (behind my 201 in the pictures) that houses a windows 2000 build (Athlon XP/2GB ram/ X1950 GPU).

That looks absolutely fantastic and increases my determination not to replace my 201.

About to order the parts to upgrade to Ryzen 5600X, just wondering what to do about CPU cooling. My GELID Tranquillo fits with about a cm of space but presumably all of the various AIO options are out without case modification due to nowhere to mount the radiators?

What has anyone else still using one of these done?

Can you still buy drive bay blanks? Need to get rid of my optical drives really.

I wanted to fit an AIO myself, but it could be tricky. I’m not wanting to cut the case up for obvious reasons. The only thing I can think of is to move my drives back to the bottom and to try and adapt something in the optical bays. But I’m not sure how that would work currently....!

I think you would have a hard time finding blanks for the optical bays now unfortunately. I did think about mounting a radiator on the rear but again that would involve cutting and I don’t want to cut the case in anyway.

I think your onto something here. The top optical bays can fit an 120mm AIO; and you could try to find mesh that is the same as the front intake mesh and adapt that for the optical drives space. In terms of keeping the AIO in place, 3M adhesive strips are very strong and you could use a couple of them.

Requires no cutting, just some work to get the mesh done right (which shouldnt be hard). Would look amazing.

That’s the sort of thing I had in mind mate, if you buy a decent fine metal mesh you could try and shape it so it would look factory. I think I will give it a go soon. I really don’t want to cut these cases, because they aren’t easily replaceable now!

My i7 965 build had a Corsair H(50?) in there. I used a Kama Bay Scythe 120mm fan mount/grille (fits in the drive bays) with the shell from an old 120mm fan screwed into it and the radiator+fan for the H(50?) zip-tied to it. The fan blew cool air in through the radiator. I had two 80mm fans exhausting (one an original Coolermaster blue LED, the other an Acoustifan dustproof) and two more Acoustifan 80mm intakes. CPU temps were pretty darn good (I overclocked the 965 from 3.2 stock to 3.6) but the HD 5870 I had in there got pretty hot (it had an obscene TDP and needed dual 6-pins).

I would love to have one of those, I just tried looking for one - bet it’s almost impossible to find now. I will have to bodge something up instead :D

Just as an update, my ATCS 201 now proudly houses my new build - Ryzen 5600X, 32Gb Corsair LPX and a GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition.

I wonder how long this case will end up lasting me? I don't think I guessed on 19 years when I opened the box in January 2002 :D

These look fantastic rare, you did a really nice job there. I gather said 210 is the one you bought from me a while back with the 'retro' build in it?

Yes it is mate! Door removed but wrapped up safe in bubble wrap. Case is currently empty, but keeping hold of it. Alongside it I have the 201 and 2 black wavemasters and 1 silver one.

Good stuff, you've really taken to these old CM cases. I never owned a wavemaster myself but I remember them well, I had several Lian Li's and a Cosmos around that time iirc.

I think it’s just because they represent a good time in my life and great memories of building computers back then with friends. Plus they are quality cases!

Great work, rare, it looks fantastic!

[TW]Fox, would be great to see your up to date build!

I had one of these back in early 2000s, fantastic case and there wasn’t much after that matches the quality.
