Core 9000 series

Just heard there has been delays for the 9th gen till 31st oct for major UK retailers, not sure if this effects OCUK?

Retail stock is non-existent in the UK/EU - Intel have not unsurprisingly over promised and under delivered, and as I have said distributors are quoting 12+ weeks for retail boxed stock for new orders.

1.35v should be enough to land 5.2ghz on 9900k - again, all depends on if the chip can reach that , AVX limits seem to be 5ghz even with mosfet's under water

The 9600k needed 1.5v+ to hit 5.2ghz. Something the 8600k does at 1.38..... I wouldnt be surprised if the 9900k needs 1.45-1.5v for all core 5ghz. Possibly explains Intel own words that z390 is needed to properly overclock the 9900k.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the US. I saw a post elsewhere claiming that a large US retailer has taken delivery of their preorder stock. Quite how much they have is another matter.

aye, just looked at other results, 1.392v under load for 5.3ghz - cinebench

few vendors needing to get their slides and facts a bit clearer haha - if not thats one cherry picked chip

had to run my 8700k at 1.42 to hit 5.1ghz

No one buying the 9600k for £330 lol. I know Intel soldered them but come on.

Tray is better value at £299.99 in all honesty, or just go a few generations back and grab a relative bargain:

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail @ £188.99 inc VAT https://www.overclockers.co.uk/inte...ocket-lga1151-processor-retail-cp-579-in.html

Quad Core Technology, 3.50GHz clock speed, 14nm Process, 6MB L3 Cache, Dual Channel DDR3/DDR4 Controller, Integrated Iris DX12 Graphics, 3 Year Warranty

Only £188.99 inc VAT.

ORDER NOW

That's £200 for a quad core, you could get hex cores for way less than that a month back.

But were talking about the here and now, if I had a time ship, I go and grab lottery numbers.
Right now that is a good offer in the current climate and is proving popular for a lot of our SI trade customers who need to build PCs. :)

The new series are soldered not because intel had a change of heart but the chip needs it to keep temps in check.

There are not going to any significant architectural differences from a 8700k but the addition of added cores and higher clock speed necessitate soldering.

The z390 boards are coming with better vrm’s across the board and better voltage options. The 9900k is basically maxed out and then some.

I have a 9900k on preorder before anyone thinks I’m some AMD fanboy but that doesn’t mean I blind to the obvious.

Just got off the horn from edited., They're delivering the retail version (not the oem) on the 26th of October. How can they do that but not overclockers? I thought overclockers had more oompf.

Thanks for clearing that up, just need to know when the Z390 Gene is landing and some of that new team group @8 Pack ram?

Best not to directly name a competitor (and also circumvent the filter on their name) - I'd wait to see what you actually end up getting and on which date - it's easy for them to claim things right now and then push the date back next week

Believe me if you do any stress testing on 9900k you can't even get close to 1.45v before your at 100c. Prime 26.6, Real bench, terragen etc etc... More like 1.275v for good 24-7 temps. On 9600k you can go to 1.32v under these types of load to remain in the mid 80s.
