Core 9000 series

Been testing the i9-9900k this week. The temps are fine at 5-5.1Ghz All core with no AVX offset maxes out at about 86Degrees with a Fractal S36 with a decent fan curve to keep noise down. VRM Temps seem pretty good as well.

Yeah we know but let us have our fun... The picture with the child and house on funny was pretty good.

No doubt, it's actually a pretty poor showing for the cost. 8700ks look a good buy now even if ran at 4.8 lower voltage plus easier to delid if you want more. Someone in MM got one delidded that does 5.0 with a top tier mobo recently for £500. Good value almost.

Haven't seen anything to make me want to cancel my pre-order from 'murica. Although when it might ship, I have no idea.

For 3D work - which needs the best of single and multi-threaded performance - nothing comes close. Am totally aware that the premium is steep, but coming from a 6700k it will be a very beneficial upgrade for me. Since my GPU's not watercooled these days I'll have 600mm of cooling for it, which should hopefully be enough to stop my house burning down.

Yep but with 1.365v and a quiet fan curve.

That cooler is nearly 8CM longer than my case.

You got the wrong CPU then. This still gets demolished by the high core count Intel HEDT CPUs in anything very multi-threaded.

Also it still has less PCI-E lanes than the top end HEDT CPUs IIRC,so if you are using GPU assisted rendering over a load of cards, isn't that going to be an issue too??

its just standard amd people who are used to these temps for the last 15 years from their amd gpus . why would they be worried about a bit of heat now ? :D

adequate cooling you can run at 5ghz gaming stay in the 75-80c. for 5ghz thats good. also be 30 fps on and amd chip. 9700 is actually looking really good now. just hopefully the gouging stops.

You would have been better placed buying a 7900X or something to be honest.
