Core 9000 series

I know we love to speculate, but have the prices been confirmed by any credible Intel source? This thread is 10 pages worth of people complaining based on some retailers putting up very high pre-order or place holder prices, which makes sense since I doubt any of them want to lose out on money if they set the pricing too low.
Is there even 1 shred of credible information on pricing? That's my question.

These have been my thoughts also.

Haven't found anything apart from rumours, I wonder when we'll get some official info on pricing, they have to have a release event sometime soon.

I don't really see Ryzen being that much cheaper when it comes to gaming.
Considering i5 vs 2600 and factoring in how important RAM timings are for AMD, you end up with a negligible difference.

What is making me think about Ryzen is definitely the upgrade path for future CPUs.

No US state has 20% tax. Most are around 5%, several have no tax. So lets not keep pedalling the rumour that that makes a huge difference.

He's right though. 500USD converted to GBP plus 20% VAT is about £465. So take into account shipping and import/export duties it will be around £500.

@beany_bot Manufacturers set US prices without sales tax, they set EU prices with VAT taken into account, that's why the $ MSRP amount ends up being similar to the £ or € one.

I know. I'm just trying to stop this whole. "ahh but that's the U. S. Price without tax. So add 20% to the msrp because that's what Americans will pay"

No. No state has 20% tax. Its usually 5 to 7%
If you buy a GPU in oregon you pay msrp. There is no sales tax.

@beany_bot I don't think I got my point across well, if you add OUR VAT to the US MSRP you roughly get the prices UK retailers practice. Of course that's not always the case but it's pretty close.
Intel quotes $359-$370 as MSRP for the i7 8700K on ark, if you convert that to £ and add the 20% VAT on top, you get a price range of £334-£344, which is pretty close to OCUK's current £350.

You've already got a really good cpu. For me I'd look for the 7nm Ryzen for an upgrade.

Im torn between 9700k, 9900k and waiting for AMD's 7nm chips. Price will be the primary deciding factor as all of them will be excellent.
I won’t upgrade until I see how 7nm Zen 2 is like. If it disappoints (unlikely) then I will wait and go 10nm Intel 10th generation 8 core. But would rather go AMD and show them some support. If not for them we would not even have 6 core mainstream still, let alone 8 core.
