Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

I wonder why they gave it such a poor rating for AM2+ chips?

I will have to pick up a copy of Custom PC this month to check it out, though with what I have seen here I am definitely getting this missus one for her rig.

@ Gaidin, did you try testing the H50 using the stock fan at all?

I'm interested in how it performs like this..

I went straight in with the 2 x apaches, I did fit the corsair fan, but was a couple of degrees hotter maxing out at 77c if I remember and a lot noisier. didnt take any screenies tho.

np mate, there is no need for screens, your word is enough..

I will be ordering a bunch of Apaches for my custom loop when I start building it, so I will just use my current Xigmatek XLF-F1253 fans for the H50 as I am sure they will be good enough for the job, as I am using them on my TRUE and they are decent fans, and they are quite quiet as well...

But those temps you got with just the stock fan don't seem at all bad neither, they are lower than what I am getting atm..

My hottest core got to 79c last night after prime was left running for ~8 hours ~25c room temp, and the rad was warm to the touch so heat doe's build up when left for an excessive amount of time. So in short & medium term it performs better then my fenrir but over the long term is about 2-3c worse hopefully the apaches i have come should cure that. If i just used the standard fan i reckon the hottest core would be in the low 80's over a long test. The thing that limits this is definatly the size of the rad as it quite warm after 8 hours.

Edit:Seems the onboard fan control was playing silly buggers and one of the fans was'nt running at full speed.

heys guys my H50 kit should be arriving wednesday, would you recomened that i use my 2X Noctua fans that i currently use for my air cooler in a push pull system? or just use the standard corsair fan?

There is a review in this months Custom PC mag, they give it 98% for cooling a LGA1366, 93% for LGA775 but only 58% for an AM2+ socket cpu.

It seems its better with the i7 than anything else.
i bought that magazine last night, and i also seen the review on the H50, i also ordered a Corsair HX 850 psu that was also reviewed on the same page

Only just come across this, and interested in getting one :).

Will be interesting to see what clocks i can get my q6600 too with this.

I wonder why they gave it such a poor rating for AM2+ chips?

The CPC review the intel systems (i7 and 775) in a Coolermaster Staker 830 and the AMD rig in Coolermaster Cosmos 1000. They even stated that the different setups (cases used) most probably affected the results showing the cooling to be more effective on Intel than AMD. Yet they still went ahead and slaped 58% for the AMD cooling ability of the H50. So much for testing consistency!

I had the COSMOS case with an i7 and the cooling wasnt as good as the HAF932, but it wasnt that bad with the Corsair cooler.
I reversed the airflow of the case though.
I used the two exhausts at the top as the intakes and had the rad on one of these with the bottom fan exhausting and a modded fan under the top HDD bay exhausting as well. It changed the case from negative to positive pressure which improved the performance of the Corsair.

I've had a reply from RAM GUY on the Corsair forum about my kits buzzing pump and as I suspected, it needs to be RMA'd. Apparently you shouldn't be able to hear a buzz coming from the pump with the case side panel on and the PC running. I could clearly hear mine. Looks like I was just a little unfortunate.

Jon, if I were you mate, I would return the unit to the retailer instead of Corsair, as you will have to ship it to Holland I think it is if you want to go direct RMA with Corsair themselves.

Just tell the retailer you have talked to Corsair themselves, and lots of other H50 users, and you have been advised to return it due to the pump being noisy, they should send you a replacement as soon as they receive the faulty unit.

Just needs one of my small TEC cooling units installed and it will cool better then the best custom WC loop.

Long story short TEC keeps rad nice and chilly, not enough to cause condensation and lowers max temp for the H50 drastically, easy solution ;).

Got a load of these in stock now, all Pre-Orders are shipping and there is plenty of time for anyone after one to place an order with next day shipping. :)

You seem to have some really nice temps,May i ask what case you using? how loud is the hydro with push /pull fans, what type fans and rpm are they set to?
also can you post screenie with prime for longer? i assume you've got ht and turbo on?

regards zia

HT is on, Turbo is on.

here is 2 hour prime95 blend test, 26c ambient, 29c case temp.
