Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Hey everyone, nice to be part of the forums at last....
Does anyone know or have experience with fitting these in an Antec p190 case with the side-mounted fan, and whether it would fit??

Just fitted one of these into one of my i7 machines. Totally stock AR2E, Intel 920 and Dominator ram. Overall temps hover around 30c idle and on load 35c. Im also using Artic Silver 5 instead of the supplied TIM.

Very easy to fit, you'll notice I have 2 fans and one fitted outside the case. I could have fitted everything inside the case but this works just as well and leaves plenty space inside. Normal fan air flow configuation air in air out. :)

The case is Lian Li - PC60FW

I dont think my H50 is seated properly. Im using MX-3, and currently aiming for a 4.2GHz OC on my i7 920, have 1.296 vcore (CPU-Z) and 1.335 for QPI (BIOS), and after 4 minutes of running LinX the max temps each core has reach according to realtemp are, 88,86,84,84.

Now these temps seem really high, and LinX failed after 7 minutes so i need even more vocre.

I don't think your chip will have a hope in hells chance of getting 4.2GHz without big voltages thus better cooling as it doe'snt seem like a good example.

I'm of the same opinion as DIABLO, you can try reapplying the MX-3, spread some thinly on the coldplate and a small spot on the cpu and reseat. Tighten up the H50 equally on each screw a little at a time to force out any air pockets. The high QPI will add a huge amount of heat to the CPU and it sounds like the vcore needs a lot more voltage if you are failing after 7 mins.

What are you using voltage wise for a 200x20 4ghz OC....

i was using vcore 1.268 & QPI 1.275, now yesterday i ran LinX, OCCT, and Prime and the system passed all of them, but later on in the evening i had 2 lockups, once the pc just reset itself, and then next the pc locked up and all lights on the keyboard and mouse went out. This morning i ran LinX, with the same settings in the BIOS as the day before (which passed everything) and after 47 minutes i got the blue screen!!! What gives with that!!!!!? Im starting to think its my RAM thats the problem, currently running uncore of x16 (191 multipilier) with 8,8,8,24,2 timings. What would be a recommend speed to run the Patriot Viper ram at?

Anyone used this on a AM2 or AM3 Motherboard?

A mate of mine wants to install this but he can't take the motherboard out (mucked up standoffs and screws). Do you have to take the motherboard out to install the H50?

Cheers,

Aaron.

I think you have to as there a bracket that goes under the board if i remember correctly.

I will be interested if you get a good drop.

Been running prime95 small ft's for the last 20mins, temps have peaked at 65degC so I'm seeing a drop of 10-15degC with the H50 in a Antec 900 (orig) with 2x apache's in push/pool.

I'll be honest, I never take much time and care with the thermal compound (I'm using MX5) I put a blob on the CPU and a blob on the block.

I had a *lot* of issues affixing the head, had to slacked the retention bracket right off to be able to twist the head and then tighten the screws back up - has anyone else had this issue?

So in summary, seeing about at least a 10 deg drop off a very good air setup, my case temp has dropped too meaning my gfx card is about 5-7degC cooler (GTX 295) and no increase in noise despite an extra fan!

It doe's say in the instructions to only do the screws up 1/2 to 3/4 turn before you fit the head. I hav'nt seen anyone complain of a concave head, the case doe's have machine marks on it though would benefit a little from lapping but you have to be careful if you did that because the base is head is held on by a ring of recessed screws around the edge.
