Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

well since nobodys replying and telling me this is okay/average temps i should be getting :D i may just remount it over the weekend trying the spread method however hard it may be with the paste i use :( thick stuff :(

i did one last temp/prime test today and results at default 920 speeds (turbo shows 2.8ghz 134.94x21 (using realtemp & coretemp) show the cores temps have levelled off to 58-63c on prime95 blend and mid 50's on intel burn test (max setting).

gaiden or anybody else for that matter that have a Haf932 case...would it benifit at all from installing the h5o unit exhausting out the roof as the case has 3x 120 fan points and enough room for the installation?...
just means ill remove the 230mm fan and place 2x 120mm next to the h50 unit and put a new 140mm in the place on the rear where the h50 went..

thanks

I haven't used that TIM, I use MX2. I have my H50, exhausing out of the rear of the HAF932 with 2x apaches. But behind the front drive bays directly opposite the exhaust fans I have stuck the 140mm fan to bring more Cool air into the case and to blow across toward the apaches.
I haven't tried fitting it to the top, can't see it being any different though.

I will be getting this so will ask here but which fan pin do people connect it to ? does it go to the cpu 1 or like in a video a guy connected it to the 1 near the ram. Also a question related to this. a normal fan would be controlled by the mother board to go faster or slower depending on heat. thou with a water set up surly you need it only 1 speed ? is it a case of turning the speed controll off on motherboard or will it just work at the correct speed ann ot be controlled by the motherboard.

Thinking of buying one of these for my new build. Any recommendations of fan setups (push-pull, multiple fans etc), and also any recommendations for fans?

Also, does anybody have a video/pics for setting up the push-pull setup?

The screw's are 6/32"x1-1/4" l searched the net l could only find socket head srews, from a model shop orded some and they were just the job, they also sell longer one's too.

Where did you get these?

Just waited 3 weeks for some off a uk seller on ebay - still not arrived -.

looking elsewhere

I managed to hack mine in with two fans and four supplied screws. I inserted two from the outside through the inner case fan into the rad, and then two from the inside through the Corsair fan into the ran. They're in either corner and it feels fairly sturdy so hopefully it should hold OK. Until I get some extra screws...

I am looking at getting one of these for my upcoming i7 (860 or 920) build. Before I do I have a couple of questions.

1. Is the pre-applied thermal compound good enough? or does it need replacing with AS5 or MX-3.

2. I am looking to use 2 fans on the radiator. Is there really any difference in temps if I have them set up to exhaust the air out the back rather than have the air drawn in as the instructions suggest? As having the rear fan as an intake will suck a load of dust into the case as only the front fans have dust filters.

Did anybody do a leak test before installing theirs? With it being pre-built, pre-filled and everything, I've read that there's much less risk of a leak, but there's always a chance with WC.

:D i dont think they would leak as they are sealed really really well ;)

read one review bit-tech:
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cooling/2009/07/29/corsair-hydro-h50-cpu-cooler-review/1

read "built like a bulldozer" and another guy was pressing the tubing joint "look at my thumbs; they are white because I'm pressing so hard. The barbs are metal so they don't break. The tubing is very flexible, resists kinks and despite not being thick, it's relatively hard wearing too"

also seen another well known review site hanging weights of the barbs :D crazy..

it survived :D

basically built like a tank unless your very very unlucky to get a noisy one that hums and may have to rma it which isnt a lot and main complaint is lack of screws for 2 fans:)

top notch cooler now, i spent the weekend trying out the temps on intake and exhaust through the roof and found that exhaustin on my case wasvery slightly better than what i got from placing it exhausying from the rear but as a bonus its freed a lot of room around the cpu area as it got confined wth 2 fans in push/pull.

prme 95 (large test) 920 default 2833.ghz
cpu 38-41c / cores were around late 50's highest reached after 2hours was 62c

so good improvement of 5-6c as my last temps were in mid 60's:)

I can confirm there well built - mine took a hammering when I modded the case.

try

www.modelfixings.co.uk

for screws, good service and lots of options. A little pricey but you don't have to buy 50/100 packs.

i got the H50, Core i7 bundle from here and have to say the temps are pretty good. about 35C at idle going to 50-60 tops under heavy load.

my case is pretty old,not exactly cool and I had to cram this into the case to get it to fit but this cooler does an outstanding job!

I just got a canned response back from the ramguy at Corsair saying they will send me an email when the H50 LGA1156 bracket is available for sale.

Looks like they stopped giving them out to old H50 customers now.

OCUK, any idea's when you can get hold of some? I'm waiting to place a £700+ order with you for my Win7 PC! (I won't be buying anything Corsair!)

Anybody moved their case around with one of these installed? I've read it's not a good idea to move around cases with full liquid cooling systems installed, but I have quite limited building room where the PC is going to be, and would be much better off building it downstairs if possible.

Would it cause any issues moving a system with this installed up some stairs?

Cant see it being a problem as its a sealed unit, id imagine its just the same as it coming in the post.

Yeah, that's what I thought. More understandable with a full system, but with this being pre-filled, pre-sealed etc, I imagine it will be fine.
