Corsair H50 Water Cooling Kit

Anything that uses mis-matched fans (speed or air pressure) is very unlikely to work well.

You want two matched fans that are both running at the same speed.

One reason the Apaches work so well in push/pull combinations is that they are PWM and you can drive two off the CPU fan header with an Akasa PWM splitter cable. That gives near silence at idle and they ramp up together when the CPU temperature picks up.

Very useful post. Thanks. :)

My RAM overheating during Left 4 Dead last night (spec in sig shows how it was set up, manufacturer recommended) due to the machine not being able to get rid of the incase heat properly. I fixed this by turning the corsair fan around and putting the case fan on the other side of the radiator blowing out. This is temporary (as I know it's not the best thing to do), until I have a chance to follow your advice and buy two PWM fans and a splitter.

For a temporary measure it seems to dissipate the heat surprisingly well.

I haven't read this thread for a good month now so am a bit behind, I've had my h50 for six weeks with 2 apache fans fitted in pull/push config. Back 6 weeks ago people where suggesting having the fans setup blowing into the case, now it seems this theory has changed and now people say have the fans exhausting out the back on the case (as recommended by Corsair), people who have changed the airflow, has there been a marked improvement??

Do H50 owners still have the block positioned upside down on the CPU, so the writing is upside, as this was also recommend awhile back, just wondered if this was still the case??

If you have a good stream of cool air coming in close to the H50 then use it as an exhaust, I have a 120mm intake fan right next to it so there's cool air to pass over the rad.

Don't think it makes a difference which way round you mount it, mine happens to be upside down as that's the way the tubes like to go.

Initially I had mine setup in push/pull to intake air into the radiator and case with the top fans exhausting, my i860 @ 3.8 load temps were about 75 degs. Over the weekend I changed the setup so that the top fans intake air with the H50 exhausting air and the temps were pretty much the same. I've kept this setup as I don't want to be constantly cleaning dust from the H50. I also discovered that installing it upside down gave -5 degree in temps.

Just had my H50 delivered today and was wondering if i could just use my existing tuniq tower backplate? Just cant be bothered with the hassle of disassembling everything.

Just changed the fans around so there now in intake mode (blowing into the case), and the temps have drop 10c!!!!! After 50 minutes of LinX, the temps topped out at 80-81c, now they havent gone above 70c!!

i got one if these here is the rig

asus p6t se
i7 920 @ stock
h50 with artic silver

temps are fantastic

idle is around 20-30 dont know about load i havnt played any games on it yet

i've just put mine in and idle is about 25c however i have just had a half hour on l4d2 so the inside of my case is nice a warm, was a lot lower before!

i had it on prime for over an hour and my max core temp was 59c on the hottest core, it was 69/70c when i tested last night on the TRUE. thats on a Q9550 @ 3.9 1.325v. i'm not using it as an intake fan either so i guess it would be better still if i did, at the moment i'm happy.

i'm using the stock fan at the moment but i'll replace it when i can be bothered.

Just ordered but had to order 25 - need 4

If anyone else off here wants some i will have plenty spare when they arrive - contact me via here

They are 6/32 unc socket caps and are black and 1 1/2" long

Supplied ones by corsair are 1 1/4 " and not socket caps

Postage will be tiny

Have you got any left mate?

I read last night that you're supposed to have the pipes at the bottom of the rad and not the top? is this true does anyone know? If its closed loop surley it makes no difference?

I was thinking the same thing when installing mine, wondering if warmer liquid would be pumped back into the waterblock if the hoses were at the top. I went with hoses at the top anyway to get them to bend around to use up some excess hose.

A post from one of the Corsair guys on their forums, in response to someone asking about roof mounting, says it doesnt matter how the radiator is mounted, hoses up down, rad in the roof or on the back of the case etc so that's why I just went with hoses up. :)
