try to look past the tosh :-D

Roof scoop, mini scoop, wheels and lights need to go, but other that that it looks a really nice example. Especially if you do the carbon/blue thing with the bonnet and spoiler

Sounds like it has a decent spec too.

And there's nothing wrong with gauges. Gauges are cool, and the more a car interior looks like the flight deck of the USS Enterprise, the better.

I have the same amount in mine, in addition to an absurdly oversized rev counter on the dash. With a shiftlight. Oh yes.

That's quite a lot of boost for a VF34, getting near the top of it's efficiency range. Much more than that it goes past it's efficiency range and starts super-heating the air. I had one before the '05/06-20G, it's a nice, quick spooling turbo, but it's not *that* big and max power capability is around 330-340 IIRC.

With IHI turbos not as strong as the TD series I'd be a bit wary of running it at 1.45 bar all the time, as it's basically right at it's limit. I'd also be wary of charge-temps as it is still on the TMIC, thats not a great thing with a turbo that at it's efficiency limit.

How many dials?!! Personally I'd get rid of the them on the A-pillar... but that's just me. The center console on the other hand looks great!

The rest of the car is awesome too, bar the roof scoop and the wheels. Though it needs an FMIC just because a) they rock, and b) the more the better :p

yeah i remember you having one, I loved my td05/06 would definitely invest in one again (christ I'm already spending money and I dont even own the car yet!), the car was mapped (the car above) and produced circa 380hp, I thought the vf34 was good for upto 400, if its lower I'm surprised they mapped it so high! im having a search around SN now see what others have achieved. Seem to recall Adam F using the VF34 on his early totb project - memory is hazy though :p

sorry to be abrupt but why does number 3 run hotter?

A few reasons, it's the closest in proximity to the turbo, it's the last in line on the rail to get fuel and the pulsing effect of the airflow across the inlet manifold caused by the flat-four layout means it can run leaner than the rest too.

Good mappers take all this in to account when mapping a Scooby, and IIRC certain ECU's can be mapped to run richer on that cylinder.

9 times out of 10, when a Scooby engine goes pop it's no 3 that has melted.

Same with Rovers, middle two run hotest and coolant runs from cylinder 1 to 4. So number runs slightly hotter, nothing a bit of extra fuel can't sort though :)
