Have to say its a tough choice whether to go for a P1 or a type R.

P1 is arguably more rare and has "Prodrive" bits (Wing, seats, wheels, badge). You pay a premium for those Prodrive badges.

Type R has DCCD and I think a few other less obvious differences. If the gearbox hasn't been altered with at least a UK 5th then its going to be a pain on long hauls. 2 Door Impreza doesn't and probably never will have an SVA report so no more wil be coming in AFAIK.

I think if I bought a P1, I'd miss not being able to fiddle with the diff if I had a type R.

Insurance and servicing of either isn't much of an issue these days as nearly all have been rebuilt at some point.

As for Prodrive bits, you could always buy P1 parts to fit to the Type R.

I'd stay with a Type R myself. If I were to go for a P1 it would have to be a WR (Brakes, Seats, 18"s etc) to be worthwhile paying over Type R money.

Only just seen this thread, another buy buy buy vote from me, loved your old scoob, this looks even nicer, though no room for carbon fibre weave goodness :(

long time no speak matey, hope life is good :D

thanks for the vote of confidence, I hear your points Eddscott but TypeR's but trying to find one remotely as nice as the one I originally wanted is proving impossible, P1's have always had a softspot in my heart and whilst the adjustable diff goodness is fun I dunno how much real application it would get. WR p1's are all at a premium at over 15k , this p1 is very cost effective - so much so I'm leaving out the price in case you all get tempted :p

Tis excellent matey, out persecuting motorists and being racist most days as ya do ;)
Hope you're enjoying yourself back in Londontown :)

Is this scoob quicker than your old beastie?

From the cut and paste I recognise the advert :)

Its been for sale on and off a few times. Why it never sold I don't know because it was indeed a very good price. Not casting doubt but it has been around for a while.

If your happy with it then go for it. Theres quite a few P1s on the market at the moment. Personally I'd wait for the right Type R - I've got the P1 spoiler already and having had the P1 seats, I prefer the STI V5/6 ones.

Believe it or not, I've just sold the top half only of a P1 spoiler to a lad in the US who has paid over £150 in shipping alone

For pure speculation only.

Were RB5s built using imported STIs or UK Turbos?

UK Turbos don't have a crossmember by the rear seats which allow them to have the seats folded down.

STIs do have a crossmember and do not have fold down seats.

However, the work required to convert an STI to the UK spec purely to produce a ltd run colour vehicle would seem way too much even for Prodrive.

Catalunyas and Terzo special editions don't have the crossmember ala' UK cars but still ltd colour runs for the UK.

PS - can you tell I'm wasting the last 5 minutes of work? :D

I dont seem to recall a 'bodged' feeling, more of a brown kind of feeling in my pants when you did the rs4 with me and pezz in the car :D

You are correct sir:

You don't know me and I don't know you bud but if I had yer wonga and a lil to spend on haha's I'd buy the thing just to hear that offbeat note. Kinda remind me of the late 80's Audi Quattro sport in that way. Marvellous!

bleh seems like the other Type R has re-appeared again now!

any chance of a poll dons?

Option 1 - £11,500 ish

The type-r with the crappy stick on bits, whilst it looks crappy the spec list is immense and its in amazing condition, bear in mind the spolier and bonnet will be painted blue too, the roof vent will go instantly and I will crash watching all the dials (which I love btw)

power : 350-380hp

Option 2 - £11,500 firm

The P1, high mileage but with expected engine failure already fixed, few sensible mods nice condition.

So thats my two choices, both available straight away and i need to buy one before the week is out, I need a car before work next week and I dont get my company steed for a few weeks at least.

So yeah *yawn* I keep going on but I value your opinions and its whittled down to these two
