You can buy better guns though can't you in CS:Go? (not played CS in years so not sure).

No you can only buy cosmetic skins for your guns, everyone has access to the same weapons.
More likely to be toast because the skill ceiling is so much higher now than years gone by!
That and if you're like me your old man reactions make it so you have to play every night for months to get the feel for it again

The trick is not to play on the game's matchmaking servers. Find a private server with decent anti-cheat as VAC sucks massive wang.

That's because you were a Source player
Only noobs played Source, pros went 1.6 >> CSGO 
64 in official matchmaking, 128 on third-party/pro servers I believe. It's a pain because all of the smoke/molotov lineups are all geared for 128 tick servers and a lot won't work on 64 at all.
I see there's been a massive jump in price for skins because of one line where Valve said they will be all updated for CS2. So they'll looker newer and shinier, maybe I should check out my skins and see if anything has rocketed!

1.6 will always have a special place in my heart, the time, the era, cs:go doesn't even compare imo.

I loved CSS and hated CSGO.
I know it's not logical, but calling this an update to CSGO makes me less likely to try it.

Same as I used to put in up to 100 hours a month back in the day, still play it now there is some good servers in Germany called 4played. I really hope I can get into this new one as I just never got into CSGO

I know exactly how you feel. I will give it a go but I'm kida thinking I probably won't end up liking it, happy to be proved wrong though and actually hope the game is ace.

All of the things he complains about in 1.6 are what made it so good! Disarming bombs through the floor, nade spamming on Nuke, bouncing flashbangs off the wall!

I still play daily, tend to hover between DMG and LE ranks.
Not really that many cheaters, about 5% on average though frustratingly it takes a while for them to get banned.
If you listen to new/silver players they tell you everyone is cheating but that just the skill gap talking

Totally agree.
CSGO weapons felt/sounded like peashooters.
After years of playing CS 1.6 and then Source. GO just felt wrong.
And full of screaming kids/hackers/toxic excuses for Humans.
