COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

We may have monkeypox to worry about too now as the WHO have just declared it a global emergency (I didn't think this would happen based on what I'd heard from experts). Will this sort of thing ever end? It's getting rather annoying.

New Zealand vaccination rates are 96.3% for the first dose, 95.2% for the second dose and 73.3% are boosted vs 93.3%, 87.5% and 69.7% respectively in the UK (I am not entirely sure whether the percentage boosted in the UK is measured as a proportion of the total population over 12 or of those eligible as in New Zealand).

Thanks. Interesting!

"Europe is the epicenter of the outbreak. Right now, men who have sex with men are the community at highest risk".

I should be OK, I don't even have sex at my age.

Tested positive on Wednesday, symptoms were sore throat and a cough. Thursday same but with fatigue and a mild headahe(same symptoms as day after a jab). Thankfully the headache was only for one day and im left feeling bunged up and taste/smell coming and going.

Watched Ed Sheeran (wife is a fan) and we both tested positive the next day. Cue three weeks later and I am over the worst of it, but if I stand up and walk a few steps, I feel faint and dizzy. It's not nice. :(

The **** I got for saying that the vaccine would only provide a few short weeks of protection against infection, when that went against the official message :s

New GPS warhead guidance allows you to target the infected with precision.
I would say originally the protection was longer then that, but now boosters designed for older variants been used for newer variants wont last as long as they less effective.

Many employers are now counting Covid towards sickness. Problem is those who have symptoms and don’t have any tests, are not bothering to buy tests. If they did test and are positive. Many are reluctant to go into work as 1. Lose pay (or get SSP) or 2. Going through disciplinary.

Those who do linger into work aren’t going to tell their colleagues they are positive. They will lie to say they are negative. Then spread it to them and others such as visitors, customers etc.

I think that's always been the endgame to put this to bed tbh.

Edit. I should have highlighted this from a government perspective, not mine, I’m not that daft.

True, we have such a silly system in this country with frankly insulting levels of sick pay compared to our neighbours.
