COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Company have announced they want us in the office Tues/Wed/Thurs. It's been a while coming, so no surprises there. Anyone else's workplace getting more strict?

I think it's for the best personally, but then again we bought our new place last year and I have a very easy commute. a lot of my colleagues that come in from outside of London are not going to be happy, their train tickets hit £40+ a day and if you're doing 3 days a week then you may as well lump for a season ticket.
I've been doing 3 days a week for the last year or so. It's a perfect balance IMO, that said I can wfh more if I want and do so sometimes. Just depends on the week and meetings etc.... I think totally remote working isn't good for career development or social development.

If the dream job came along that needed 5 days a week I'd be happy enough to do it. But I've been hardwired into working in an office for so long! I can understand the younger generation not enjoying it.

Totally agree. I’ve been going in 3-4 days a week anyway (not now that I’ve got Covid!).

Then again youngsters do absolutely everything on their phones don’t they? So I can see why when someone says “you need to go into the office for social interaction“ they might just be like “bruh, I can do that on TikTok” lol :(

Thanks, good to know, I assumed a tablet would turn up in the post if I contacted them :p

It probably would now in most cases as there is now an antiviral tablet you can take though there are other options too including the antibody therapy like say if the antiviral tablets are known to have interactions with other medications you take etc..

What I will say is that the pandemic has taught business that remote working is possible and bar a few chancers should hopefully keep productivity up and stop ill people spreading colds and so on. There has been a rise of **** takers but that will always happen even if you're in the office you know some people are just on social media all day.

Going to Spain in 10 days and just found out my two doses no longer qualify as fully vaccinated according to their rules. So have booked in for the 3rd (booster) dose that I never bothered with last year. Surprised that I could still get it but it seems that I can.

About time this bull was all stopped though.

So much for your principles.

I don't agree.

Already double jabbed. New variant is a significant mutation. Who says the booster even makes any difference on it? May as well a) trust my body to use what immunity it already has and b) wait for an Omicron specific booster to come out and take that.

I'll take the booster if they pay me £200.

You knew that could be the case but didn’t bother. Carry on being angry at the virus/blaming medical advice though for you taking your eye off the ball.

And “bull”, really grow up :D

Isn’t it hilarious when peoples principles disappear when they can’t sod off to Spain for a week
I don't see the conflict to be honest. Everything I said is what I did. Trusted my body for 8 months with no booster, didn't catch covid. Now I either stump up £60 for a test or have the jab - so not quite a £200 benefit that I would have originally taken but still a monetary benefit.

The whole thing has as good as gone away here now, there are no restrictions any more here. This is only forced my hand because Spain have altered their rules for no reason.

Does the booster jab also show up on the NHS Covid pass app?

Had no choice did I. Haven't had COVID in all this time so just shows booster was unnecessary but I'm forced to have it now.

It was lucky I found out about it, as haven't seen anything posted in the news about this and nothing has been sent my way from the package holiday company. It was only because someone at work mentioned it.
You had the choice to stick to your principles or have the booster and go to Spain. Luck shouldn't have played any part in finding out about the entry requirements, you should have checked them yourself.

Hilarious yes, not surprising though.

The standard NHS app also has it.

Returned home after spending the afternoon out. In the post was a box of LFTs from the NHS. Strange as I didn't order any, as I think I qualify for them due to asthma. Unless a GP at my practice, if they can, requested a box for me as needed oral steroids when I had covid 4 weeks ago as peak flow went very low, not that low for hospital admission.

Anyone get the vax and regret it?
I hung off and didn't get the shot. Had covid, recovered quickly. I'm seeing some friends around me experience issues after the jabs, and regret taking them or being coerced into it by their employers.

It goes against the very fibre of my being to be forced to do something I didn't want to do.

This seems a very strange argument you're making and even stranger reasoning for it.

Do you not pay taxes? Do you not abide by the speed limit? Do you not follow the multitude of laws and regulations we have, many of which may be opposed to something you "want to do".
