COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

I don’t get where this anti mask argument ends up.

All I can hear is “some people are too stupid to use them properly so forget the whole mask thing”. Which is stupid, unless I am getting in wrong and some education is being advocated?

All I'll say is (and it is somewhat against a backdrop of bigger changes) when we had strict masks, distancing and sanitisation rules at work nothing went around even when people came in who were likely infectious with COVID or colds/flu. Once the rules were relaxed stuff started going around like wildlife amongst the most complacent especially.

I seem to be one of a tiny number who seem to have so far avoided anything going around.

I can't imagine the millions of people who contracted COVID at work when masks were mandated would agree.

I'm on a court case now which goes something like this:
Woman totally refuses to wear a mask for her hospital appointment so Clinician refuses to see her.
She claims Covid is totally made up and doesn't have to wear one but the Clinician keeps to the rules.
Her problems get seriously worse so she has taken the Trust to court and the Judge has kicked it out.
She yells at the Judge saying Covid doesn't exist and the Judge says "Tell that to three of my colleagues".
A bit more happened but that's the gist of it.

Key thing as above is using the measures properly and using the appropriate mask for the situation - work was pretty strict on it until the government dropped pretty much everything.

So UK had snubbed the Astra-Zenica covid prevention drug, lack of data on omicron, and now signing up for the new moderna (combo) vaccine, is that related to our new investment in Moderna.
will now have to ring up before any booster, to make sure it will be this new combo version, ready for christmas.

with all the demonization of the energy companies the covid vaccine suppliers, were somewhat in the same situation - massive profits

I received this text this morning

I assumed it's a scam message, for one they wouldn't have sequenced the variant for track and trace and two, do we even have a track and trace system anymore?!

Just highlighting the fact these messages are going around and to stay vigilant against the scammers
I had the exact same one last week
Same here

and as said before, even me working in a Trust I wasn't wearing them correctly and changing them frequently.
It's still mandatory at work and I change mine once a week.
A week old mask is a breeding ground for disease. Which you then get, and then pass to others.

It's not rocket science.

So by your own logic, masks may be making things worse. But they make people look like they're trying to do good, right? They're a prop and used as part of covid theatre. And I'd venture to say they may even make things worse.

By the way... what I'm saying is nothing new. And in fact, it was the original message the so-called "experts" were paid to say advising at the beginning of Covid. Don't wear a mask because unless you're fastidiously swapping them out and not touching them - they're likely to make things worse.

Fast forward 2 years of propaganda, you're a loony for suggesting what was previously seen as common sense.

What's stupid about accepting that the general public don't wear masks like they're supposed to?

Operating theatre:
1. Mask applied by surgeon's assistant in a sterile environment.
2. Mask discarded into clinical waste when it has been used.
3. Mask is not touched by the wearer
4. New mask applied in the same manner.

General public.
1. Any piece of cloth acceptable
2. Mask used repeatedly over multiple days/weeks(!) in some instances
3. Touched frequently after touching every other germ-ridden surface
4. Mask bunged into a dirty pocket or handbag

There's absolutely nothing stupid about accepting that:

1. The masks are not used in the way they were intended
2. The masks are likely a breeding ground for germs
3. Placing a piece of cloth full of germs within close proximity to the wearer's mouth for hours on end is likely to make people sick.
4. If the wearer gets sick, they're more likely to make others sick.

It's common sense. Which doesn't appear to be very common.

You could at least quote my whole post!

My use of the word stupid is about the "nobody does is properly so let's not bother" conclusion, unless, as I said you are advocating some level of education so they do know how to wear them, in which case that is a great point.

Some people will never learn how to do some things properly, there is no cure for that. I won't go down the route of a million possible analogies for this (driving etc).

Ok Captain Conspiracy Theory, what exactly did countries have to gain by having a, unecessary in your view, mask mandate?

Don't even bother engaging with this guy anymore, you're just wasting your time. I just threw them on the block list and left it at that.
Imagine having an argument so weak you'd need to silence those with an alternative view.
