COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Ok Captain Conspiracy Theory, what exactly did countries have to gain by having a, unecessary in your view, mask mandate?
It's the same reason political leaders wear a mask for the camera then immediately remove them.

1. It looks good
2. It enforces the idea there's a global emergency
3. Point 2 allows them to roll out and keep 'emergency powers'
4. Their 'emergency powers' are used to shape the future world most leaders sign up to.
5. Why? Because they're bought and paid for by people in actual positions of power (ie: not elected officials that disappear after 4 years).

You could at least quote my whole post!

My use of the word stupid is about the "nobody does is properly so let's not bother" conclusion, unless, as I said you are advocating some level of education so they do know how to wear them, in which case that is a great point.

Some people will never learn how to do some things properly, there is no cure for that. I won't go down the route of a million possible analogies for this (driving etc).
I understand your point and I'm not really arguing with your logic. In fact I think we're both on the same page that people don't use the masks correctly.

The question I guess should be: because they're not used correctly, are they causing more harm than good? It the former is true, they should never have been mandated.

Ah, that classic.

The ENTIRE leadership of all the countries in the world, plenty of whom have pretty big beefs with eachother, have all collectively worked to pull the wool over us sheeple's eyes. But you are so enlightened you can see past it. It's true, some youtube videos told you and everything.

Well there is the point, I disagree :-) masks do more good than harm.

It seems incredible to me that mainstream accepted experts and political leaders all over the world have lied about this consistently, have been shown to have lied or - I'm being generous here - wrong, and people still hang on their every word as if it's some sort of religion.

If JVT or whoever they roll out in front of a podium told people something new tomorrow they'd parrot that as fact, until it wasn't.

Then the same people get annoyed at being called sheep. Amazing.

Next, you'll tell me that men can be women.

... oh wait.

So by your own logic, masks may be making things worse. But they make people look like they're trying to do good, right? They're a prop and used as part of covid theatre. And I'd venture to say they may even make things worse.

You post some crap.
Masks in theatres and wards are being worn correctly by Clinical staff but us serfs in Admin away from the main hospital are 'doing our thing'.
I guarantee when I go over to the main building to search for a Clinician to sign a document I'll be wearing my mask properly but that mask will now be worn until my next visit (yes I'm a pleb).
As much as you hate it the value of masks have been known for well over a century, even Florence Nightingale knew what they did but if you know better you could save healthcare billions by putting your expert thesis forward by saying they don't work or a You Tube video by Gary might work.

That description fits Johnson, B word and other things, why pick on masks?

IN A CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT.

Which is not something I've even touched on. I don't know how many times I need to say it - I'm talking about the average joe on the street. But go ahead and keep talking about acute hospital settings and ignore everything I said.

Even the average Joe in the street wearing a mask wrong will still block some people getting it or transmitting it, you could say 'better than nothing', not brilliant but can stop droplets - hopefully.
But yes, if we had all wore the correct masks correctly transmission would have gone down, less people would have died or been seriously ill.
Right at the start people were moaning about washing their hands but in 2010 I made a video that won a Nursing Times Award which featured correct handwashing techniques and is supposedly used in every Trust. (* I'm not Clinical and the main people involved were Infection Control & the Theatre Sister).
Again if people washed their hands correctly, which they still aren't doing and I also aren't even though I made an award winning instruction video, we would have had less cases.

It's never crossed your mind that incorrectly used masks actually make things worse? Is it completely beyond the realm of the plausible?

9 days positive now, meh. Tight chest, breathlessness, heart palpitations still ongoing. Sleeping 10 hours every night, like a log. Struggling to stay awake in the afternoons.

Fingers crossed I don't turn into a long covid stat :( GTFO covid.

No, how can it make it worse?
Incorrect is incorrect but at least some of the droplets might not get out or into you.

I used to run classes that simulated sneezing in a room and it could easily reach the back of a 40 foot room, just a simple hand 4" in front of the mouth could slow that right down and massively shorten the distance.

Honestly you need to shut up or do some proper research.
