COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Been so busy with other stuff it is a awhile since I glanced at the stats - nearly 1000 people died in the last 7 days with COVID in the UK where nearly half it was the underlying cause of death, nearly 10% were under 60 and nearly 9% it was the only cause of death. Even with those under 60 removed from the stats it is estimated an average of more than 6 years life lost.

So 90 people died of covid? And what age group were they?

Don't have that specific data as to demographics - but over 400 people also would still be alive if it wasn't for COVID.
I'm guessing it works kinda like this?

Person gets covid, which kills them with a blood clot. Cause of death = covid.
vs
Person gets covid, wreaks havoc with their immune system, they develop pnuemonia, covid goes, they end up dying from pnuemonia. Cause of death = Pnuemonia, by way of covid?

Currently sitting in A and E and a nurse tried to remove someone from there for not wearing a mask. The dude says no sticks his AirPods back in and ignores her.
The nurse asks for security.

Some women decides to take matters into her own hands and confront this guy even though she was sitting 4+ metres away from him.

She walks up to him takes the AirPods out of his ears and gets in his face telling him to get out. Oh the irony.

Long story short, she throws the AirPods out the door and the guy flips out and chucks the case and then the AirPods at the woman before being escorted by security.

This woman literally made the situation worst and best of all, she wears her mask with her nose sticking out.
Never understood why people wear masks with nose exposed. During the compulsory mask wearing times in all indoor places, 98% of people I saw with masks on and nose out, wore disposable masks. They are the worst ones for me to breathe in. Why couldn’t they try a different mask?

In March, I had a cold - tested negative. Couldn’t wear any mask as anything on my sinuses hurt. I sneezed into my elbow (the right way) and a customer (again mask under nose) had a go at me for not wearing a mask. I was behind a screen. I said I have tested negative this morning, wearing a mask makes it painful and I am behind a screen. She flipped. I filmed her on the cameras we wear and said I am not tolerating your behaviour and besides you aren't wearing your mask correctly. Then left to the staff area. Manager asked her to leave and explained I am also exempt from wearing a mask due to health conditions. She then said, you should not be hiring staff with health conditions. Well, you will reduce our staff to a third.

Not seen the ***** since.

Yes we know you dont like nor understand mask wearing. Or sadly why you should have been wearing a mask when you had a cold while working behind a screen around things that you would then hand to people. You cant be that stupid surely?

Exempt for health reasons though so that seems a bit harsh, or have I missed some background here?

Well having my first taste of Covid.

Tested positive first time today, I tested last night which was clear, I only tested as had a snuffle and had spare kits as I was visiting a very vulnerable person all clear as mentioned so went over.

Today as days gone on I've felt rough I ache everywhere, am used to element of aching due to bad back but this feels different, throat bit sore mostly a cough, again gotten worse as days gone on.

Tested tonight and Crystal clear positive result.

No idea where I'd of got it from but I've always said every one will get it some stage.

Well no. Everyone will get it if they are in contact with others that have it. That is the only way you can get it so if more people took more care of what they are doing evenually no one would have it.

Whilst you're right, and someone I have a tremendous amount of respect for (considering I don't know you) but.... that would also be very difficult to do, even trying to keep distanced, wearing masks everywhere etc... However you can't control the behaviour of others nor whether they're ill or not. It could potentially make normal life fairly impossible to live unless you stay in your bubble. The chance of completely avoiding it is of course possible but realistically untenable really.

Current prevalence in the community is below 3% - it is potentially possible, if people behaved with responsibility and had the tools to enable it, to virtual eliminate transmission (we can't eradicate it really at this point due to the number of ways it can be reintroduced). But it won't happen because people.

Wow thanks I have to say that is not something I would have expected to hear on this forum. (outside of SC that is)

Yes it would be very difficult to do as the common cold and flu keep showing us. I, like @Mark1989 have vulnerable friends and relatives that I have to see and be around for what ever reason and around them I am extra careful just because, but also because of the fact I have to see them repeatedly I am also very careful while out and about and it annoys the **** out of me seeing people just cough openly with no regard for anyone else. Im still doing the body snatchers stare at anyone that coughs near me.

That for me is why covid secure will never be far from my mind.
