COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Current prevalence in the community is below 3% - it is potentially possible, if people behaved with responsibility and had the tools to enable it, to virtual eliminate transmission (we can't eradicate it really at this point due to the number of ways it can be reintroduced). But it won't happen because people.
You're not wrong.

I had it for the 2nd time last month. A lot milder than the first time back in January. Took the compulsory time off work, but carried on with life as normal, did not stay at home at all. Probably infected a few people (who knows?) but it's so mild now, don't think I killed anyone

Well no. Everyone will get it if they are in contact with others that have it. That is the only way you can get it so if more people took more care of what they are doing evenually no one would have it.
Yes cause you can know if in advance if some one has it..not

I've been carefull throughout as friends and family have. Chances are though it's likely we all will get it some stage.

If I'm going anywhere etc I'll test as friends do, but can't control what average Joe public too as in cough don't cover mouth, don't wash hands etc

To be this far into it and getting it now first time I don't think that's bad!

I plan to stay home and isolate till clear

Wow thanks I have to say that is not something I would have expected to hear on this forum. (outside of SC that is)

Yes it would be very difficult to do as the common cold and flu keep showing us. I, like @Mark1989 have vulnerable friends and relatives that I have to see and be around for what ever reason and around them I am extra careful just because, but also because of the fact I have to see them repeatedly I am also very careful while out and about and it annoys the **** out of me seeing people just cough openly with no regard for anyone else. Im still doing the body snatchers stare at anyone that coughs near me.

That for me is why covid secure will never be far from my mind.
Oh of course. I mean I travel a bit for work and visit several colleagues, and so on. I always ask if there are any special precautions and/or vulnerable people etc... That's as much as I can do. We have elderly relatives that we visit from time to time but we're not as tactile as we used to be, which is quite sad but we've sort of got used to it. However we do make sure we're ok before we see them. It still galls me to have to do this but it's the right thing to do. Admittedly we do as a family completely forget to do it sometimes and just crack on but whilst I guess trying is not good enough if someone gets ill from us it's also very easy to do.

I meant the person you caught it from.

Finally got COVID from work after 2.5 years of dodging it.
Tested positive on Sunday after puking my guts up (very abnormal for me, I'm rarely ill) felt grim throughout Monday, tried to sleep most the day away. Now I just have a bit of a sore throat and a headache like having a normal cold.
Me along with 2 colleagues have it (small office only like 7 people) guessing one them is the culprit as I havn't been anywhere for awhile and I'm super careful/sanitise regularly.
We have to take unpaid sickdays off until we get a negative result which is a bummer, so far they have us of until Tuesday next week, hopefully I have a negative test by then.

You mean SSP sick days, it’s against the law not to pay you SSP

It is amazing. Catch a virus while at work that means you cant go into work and it comes out of your pocket.

Havent the government said recently that you dont get sick pay for covid unless you are sick. Not just infectious. If you are just infectious you can still go in and infect other people.

Yeah it changed in March I think it was, if your just infectious and not basically dying your employeer doesn't have to pay anything. I am perfectly capable of working right now, but I can't go in due to the infecting others.

I think the problem is companies were finding people were taking the **** a bit, which was fine when the government were footing the bill for sick pay, but now it's back to the company they're adopting the same processes as any other sickness.

On the flip side though, lots of people have said they can't afford to take potentially a week off unpaid/SSP - especially with the upcoming increases to cost of living. So they'll carry on going to work and potentially spread it to others.

So you tell them your ill tomorrow and they have to pay you
Already been told I basically need to be in hospital to qualify as otherwise its being handeled like any other illness (whether thats legal or not is eh...)

My previous jobs didn't give sick pay either under any circumstances (with one of them being EDF) if you where not in work, you didn't get paid. I've never been of more than 1 day however so I've never went through the SSP stuff as the first day is never paid.

Also I think its the whole 4 day thing....

And yet people are surprised that people ignore the guidance and go to work. I guess it's to weed out the **** takers, but nonetheless...

Lucky I don't have that aspect to worry about. Paid normal even if sick old job didn't do sick pay though

My breathing got really bad and had ambulance out, tests came back okay I was also mid panic attack so didn't help.

Anyway covid sucks balls :(

Currently between feeling warm or red hot.

Could be worse, I had a day off once, had really bad squits, literally a few times an hour, I rang the office, couldn't get hold of my line manager, he was in a meeting, so I left a message and emailed him. during the day I did 4/5 hours worth of remote work with a couple of engineers that were doing a CCTV install, next day I was back in the office and they did a back to work interview, then at the end of the month I found that I'd been docked a days wages..

Exactly what I went through this week. Hyperventilating. It’s the 4th time I’ve gone through it and I have to say this has been the worst. Sadly caught it off of someone I made a delivery to on my other job.

My GP has been useless. Had paramedics out, went to hospital. All ok. Just told to rest and drink plenty of fluids. Not sure if you’ve suffered from sickness/dizziness but I have a lot.

Feel better today but not 100%.

You have had Covid 4 times?

Not being sick, slight dizzy spell but I've mostly had the common symptoms.

My breathing is better today not great still, going up and downstairs is making me have to take an extra minute to recover as it were.

Warm sweats still presents as is a headache and general aches
