COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

Three people in my house have been really ill with symptoms very much like Covid, sore throat, constant cough, tired, dizzy, headache, but none are testing positive for covid. Is anyone aware of something else nasty that’s going around the SE?
I'm in the SE. My boss (coincidentally) had cold like symptoms and a headache. She ended up working from home for a few days but never tested positive. A few days prior to this the person who sat behind her did test postive.

Tested positive Friday but presuming I'm positive still today.

Most days I feel fine just a little coldy i.e. snotty. Some days my sinuses go nuts and others I'll feel slightly drained.

In general though I'm fine currently, I felt worse over new year's, so hopefully it continues how it is.

Been absolutely floored with a cold since Friday. Not had one like this in years. So much pressure in my sinuses, splitting headache, sore throat and generally achey and a properly nasty cough. One of those ones that when you cough, it kind of just turns in to long wheeze. Done a couple of lateral flow tests and they both say negative but this doesn't feel like a cold at all. Normally when I get a cold, I'm snotty for a day then fine the next day

The catastrophic failure of Sweden's amateurish pandemic response has been shredded in a new report. Health authorities deliberately withheld information, deceived the public, denied intensive care to those with comorbidities, and quietly killed old people, who were considered expendable.

Yet this is held up as an example by many. When compared to their similar neighbour Norway they did much worse even before accounting for these revelations.

Are they swabbing the throat and the nose (even for kits that are supposedly nose only)? Sometimes the nose only ones are less reliable and swabbing the throat too will return a positive result in such cases.

Just found out my sister tested positive for covid for the third time in ~6 months.

She was being pretty stupid, my nephew, his GF and their baby, and his step son all had covid, my sister went round to visit and was cuddling the baby despite being knowing everyone in the house had it.
Hopefully she'll be fine, but it does rather reinforce the reason I tend to be slightly reluctant to let sister into the house, as throughout covid she's tended to not take it seriously.

Tim Spector in one of his latest Covid ZOE updates said protection from a prior infection is thought to last about 3 months so 3 times in 6 months is good going! :p

Chap in our office has it again, I say again it's the forth time since October. Had delta, then he guesses omicron twice and has tested positive on a PCR over the weekend for the forth time.

Yup, my Mrs has been ill for weeks with those symptoms plus a few others. We've been testing lots but always negative. I only got the sore throat, tiredness and oddly split lips / drying out skin regardless of me drinking like a fish to try and counter it.

Both me and my wife feel ill last week, about the level of an annoying cold, I tested positive, she tested negative almost every day. Odd

Thought I was getting done with it but now lost sense of smell and taste in the last few hours. Having dinner was a really weird experience!

Dropping like flies at work, about 10% of the work force off with Covid, thankfully all seem quite mild cases.

Around 20% I think where I work - most don't seem that ill, several have continued working from home with it, except a nasty sore throat - had a couple of phone calls which transitioned to WhatsApp heh. We seem to have got hit by it suddenly, with probable transmission events at work, after a couple of years of mostly isolated cases.

Feeling a bit off myself but I think that is more from dealing with a lot of **** at work over the last few days due to a mixture of people being off sick and some "teething" problems with transitioning part of the business. Felt like I had a sore throat coming on and muscle aches on the drive home last night but just mild general aches and fatigue today.

I reckon it's currently at the highest it's ever been which is testament to how important the vaccines have been given it doesn't currently seem to be transferring to huge death counts. I think I currently know more people with COVID that I do without.

Covid cases picking up like crazy. I know a list of people with it currently. On holiday next week and really worried I’ll get stuck isolating there.

I think I currently know more people with COVID that I do without.

It’s starting to feel that way.

This must be a new variant. All with symptoms, but fortunately nothing major.
