COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

So now you are dialling back on your ‘soon enough’ prediction because you have been called out on it. Pathetic.

Omicron 2 is already believed to have peaked and XE was expected with different strains spreading. You’re not getting another lockdown.

OK if you want me to pick a date out of thin air to satisfy you then let's see what things are like in 3 months.

I'm basing that on an guess based on how quickly things have escalated in the last 3 months since January.

And on another note, you seem to imply I actually want it to be true, and that I want a lockdown, which I really really don't, but going on how things have escalated in the last 3 months, I don't really hold much hope for things getting better.

Why don't you just ask for a thread ban if its existance upsets you so much.

Some people want to go beyond ignoring this situation themselves and want to force their opinion on others. Creepy, but no surprise with the level of entitlement shown.

In other news, record cases and new variants. Can you imagine if 5 million people in the UK had flu? I remember H1N1 my company at the time shipped out Tamiflu to all employees and families. There were 300k employees! I think the supportive attitude of some companies to basically allow people to work again at home full time will be remembered as a positive thing. It’s an odd juxtaposition of the government saying “do what you need to stay safe” versus “but yes please go back to the office and catch it”. They must have shares in Pret. Leave us alone, we will work it out. Ideologically, the Tories are totally ripping out one eyeball to look into the other eyeball and are seemingly surprised it’s not cool after all.

Lol in 3 months WW3 could have happened - at least you have completely dialled back on the soon rhetoric, that's a start.

But can you not see, given that there are clearly people on here that won't open their windows in summer in case a jogger runs past, that posting such hysteria is not healthy?

Well 3 months to me is "soon" in the grand scheme of things, so there is definitely a difference in what we both class as soon.

Equally I still don't class it as hysteria, as I'm not hysterical about it. It's simply a personal predictive observation based on the current trajectory of the virus.

Even now we have staffing shortages caused by the sheer number of infections at many companies. I've just read 100 flights from one airline a lone were cancelled due to staff shortages. Other reports of hospitals having to cut back on even more routine operations due to staff shortages due to sickness and having to open up or convert normal wards into covid ones.

I really don’t think there should be a need for another mandated set of measures, however this assumes we all behave in a way that means that isn’t necessary. Fat chance of that!

eta: more froth I see!

Well no one else seems to agree with you and the fact that the only actual debate in this thread relates to whether it should be closed says it all.

I don't really care if people agree with me, I was simply stating my opinion and making a prediction. If you or anyone else doesn't agree with it, then it's of no consequence to me.

Don't worry you aren't missing much. Just stuff about closing thread and nobody agreeing with me :D

Do yourself a favour and find something else to worry about - you’ll feel better.

I'm not worried about it because there is very little I can do about it. I have no control over how people live their lives.

It's just a prediction, that's all. It seems to have wound you up more than me!

I do what I can to protect my family and myself which is all I have any control over. Keeping them safe and by proxy myself because I need to be healthy to care for them. That is my only worry.

Youre not worried about the end of ‘normal’ life - you don’t really believe your own prediction do you?

How about people start living a healthier lifestyle. Two years in now and very few people have done this. Instead they'd rather everyone have mandated vaccines and lockdowns.

Two people in my household have had covid in the last 3 weeks and I still haven't given the virus more than 10 seconds of thought per day.

This post took you longer than 10 seconds to write so you keep lying to yourself.

I know plenty of healthy people who have gone down bad with it. Did they die? No but one in particular is walking around with an inhaler because covid kicked his arse and he spent 15 days in icu. Healthy under 30. Didn’t die tho so it’s fine.
