COVID-19 (Coronavirus) discussion

So is this now just a thread where people say they feel poorly and list their symptoms regardless of whether or not they have a positive covid result?

Maybe just make a thread for random winter illness.

I have been coughing up green gunk for the last week, had occasional headaches and haven't tested for anything if that interests anyone.

You're not wrong and some of the conspiracy theorists have made the same point.

I don't see the problem - whether or not this thread is active doesn't itself have much impact on whether COVID is or isn't a thing and/or having an impact :s

If people don't like being reminded of it that probably points to a bigger problem with themselves rather than COVID.

Oh I fully expect this to test positive at some point in the next 24-48 hours. It's behaviour is exactly the same as the last time I got covid.

There's literally people saying they have negative covid tests. It just seems ridiculous that now it's just people listing symptoms and speculating whether it's covid or not.

I wouldn't care if people were testing positive and sharing symptoms but when people aren't testing and just guessing it seems stupid to me.

Im happy to be reminded of it. When it's actually it. Not when it's just as likely a winter virus that I've had for near 40 years.

I get the impression that a lot people 100% believe a test result if it's positive, but question and retest any negative result.

We have always tested when we get poorly so we can take the proper action needed and not to infect others.

People these days now just do not care and that's it

I have had issues though with some tests giving a negative and others giving a positive so its hard to know fully if its covid or not

The rapid tests are very accurate if they show a positive, but a negative is only something like 70% accurate.

We tested every few days regardless of a positive or negative result and stayed home for 10 days as you can still be contagious 5 to 20 days after (going by the NHS site)

We had 1 test say positive we did another test a few days later which said negative and then the 3rd test said positive again lol

Most people are only infectious for about 4-5 days, some earlier strains aside, but then you get people like my grandad who was still infecting people up to I think day 18 or something like that - was super frustrating with friends and family who wanted to visit and were dismissive - "oh its been 5 days", "oh its been a week", "it's just a cold", etc. and then surprise surprise coming down with COVID... (and most of them had it quite bad - which was a surprise to some of them).

Dunno if due to being vaccinated but he only had it very mildly, just made him irritable on top of already being grumpy, but I think his immune system by that point was just worn out and didn't really fight it off.

The last time I had covid I didn't test positive until about the 5th day of feeling ill, by which time I was feeling better. I only then tested positive for (I assume) for three days because the next time I tested it was negative again.

The thing has changed so much I'm amazed the LFT tests work at all tbh.

I don't see the issue with people discussing symptoms, especially if those symptoms or how you feel are similar to the times you've had covid previously. And anyway, what does it matter, it's not like anyone is being charged for this content. If no one posted, the forum would be empty.

I take quite a bit of comfort when people post to say they've something similar, especially given I currently feel like dog ****. Is it more that people just want to forget C19 ever actually happened?

I saw a customer wearing a mask and disposable gloves. I coughed into the fold of my elbow as woke up with a nasty chest cough. Yet recovered from cold and symptoms free for two days.

The customer made a cross with her fingers.

Even another customer shook his head with disbelief

everyone just assumes every illness now is covid.

everyone just assumes every illness now is covid.

Funny as most of the time it seems to be the other way around....

Everyone just assumes that whatever illness they now have isn't Covid, so they don't even bother testing for it, they just selfishly continue on with their lives, infecting others.

Yup, and they seem to get some sort of god like halo glow around themselves whilst informing anyone that'll listen to their epic struggle against the deadliest foe to ever challenge mankind and the very universe itself, that and they use it as an excuse to not bother going in to work and being anything other than useful*
