CPR W3 on Hairworks(Nvidia Game Works)-'the code of this feature cannot be optimized for AMD'

Want to one platform to run them both. Get a console. All this in-fighting between AMD and Nvidia is destroying the PC platform.

Its like watching a slow motion train wreck.

Having to pick and choose between one vendor for one game and another for another will be the death of PC gaming.
And frankly with one trying to push out the other so it csn be the one only choice vendor you have to wonder if PC gaming has much of s future, this sort of nonsense will only get worse, much worse.

Given AMD's sales and financials we wont have to worry about that for too much longer.

Consoles are no better. Grand Turismo is Sony only along with a whole load of their other exclusive titles.

Buying a console does not fix the issue. You still have to weigh up your choices and pick carefully. When The last of us was released several of my friends all bought a PS3 just so they could play it.

Now sure most games will be released on console but not all, pretty much exactly the same as stupid tech in PC games.

Got to agree with Greg here.

Selling things has always been about making them desirable to people. If you can get yourself a killer app then you're laughing.

This isn't limited to PC gaming at all. Consoles *always* get certain games released for them that are not available anywhere else. What was that game called that the PS3 got? The last of us?

Back in the day if you wanted Mario you bought Nintendo. If you wanted Sonic you bought Sega. Honestly this thread is like people whining because Nintendo won't give Sega the rights to release Mario on their console !!

Mantle was all about AMD. Guess what? I bought a 7990 to see what it was like. If you want decent hair in Witcher 3 or decent Project Cars performance you're going to have to buy Nvidia.

The game has always been the same, even in console gaming.

Spot on post!

The exact opposite is true, fighting, competition (Especially fierce competition) breeds better prices / more interest, better products, inventive ideas.

A passionate community, fans and competition is what makes something thrive it doesn't destroy it.

Once AMD launch some new hardware everything will get back to normal, AMD fangirls will say Nvidia suck and are expensive, Nvidia fangirls will say they have better drivers and Jen-Hsun Huang has a cool tattoo.

As per the norm. This lack of hardware (Less competition) has caused all this woe in the community lol.

Probably because when they asked AMD for help in implementing it (like NVidia do with their own software technologies) they never heard back, why would AMD bother when they can just sit back and blame the developer/NVidia all of the time.

This is NOT TRUE. And I am in a position to know. AMD has a good relationship with CD Projekt and worked with them closely.

Every one I know who has consoles have both sitting under their telly, and they all say PC gaming is too expensive, and they have a point.
A good gaming PC with sceen etc costs well over £1000.
And console isn't bulky, two sit nicly under the telly.

Yeah lets listen to an AMD employee telling us to watch a video of another AMD employee on why a competitors tech is wrong

Hi Roy - no doubt! This is a huge release this year. Genuine question and not sure how much you can really say on this but what is stopping AMD approaching CD and saying, look - you've got these libraries in there. Here's ours - it's cross gender manufacturer wise and it looks great.

Surely it's up to CD Projekt what they can and can't put in their game. I loved Tress FX in Tomb Raider, but we've not seen a peep from it since.

Yea people think that random post on steam forums is the god holy truth. obviously AMD had decent drivers for the game in beta but now its released its been nerfed... Okay that makes sense.

Also i dont give a dam if i can't use specific features of a certain vendor. But when nVidia gets its hand on a specific game and gets gameworks implemented in it with hair works, Physx and such its seems to nerf and affect the performance for AMD cards now that bothers me...

You don't see Mantle affecting nVidia performance in games do you? No because it still runs fine on DX11 so bugger off with that.

AMD won't pay them to use their features though that's the difference. nVidia will as they have more spending freedom to do so.
