Cpu Upgrade

Got all the bits today so put It all In, took me ages to fit the new cooler as not much room, pc started It recognised the new CPU and went to bois screen where I went with defaults and all seems well.
Very nice. :)

Now need to find a 2nd hand GPU better than mine now lol
Unfortunately GPU prices are all over the place at present... So might be in for a long wait...

They aren't all over the place, they're all at geosynchronous orbit.

And can't see any certain more permanent end to price situation, unless electricity&resource waste currencies get banned as crime against environment they are.

:D

Well apparently the mining difficulty for ETH has dropped in the last 48h. Whether it's a blip or a trend remains to be seen.
Hopefully it's a trend...which means that miners are starting to dump hardware...

God, I hope it's a trend - my son wants a 6800/3070.

Perhaps some more carefully orchestrated tourette outbursts from Elon Musk will help seal the deal...

I've decided my next card's going to be something like a 3070 flogged by a desperate out-of-work miner for £0.99. Should probably sell my 1070 now and play solitaire for now.

If the 1070 has an 8-pin connector it will work. Can you use it? Yes. Should you get a better PSU anyway? Yes. If not now, pronto.

If it has more connectors it won't work as that PSU only has 8-pin (6+2).
I think the 1070 card would fit the motherboard

You misunderstand. Nothing to do with the motherboard.

Some GTX 1070 come with a single 8-pin power connector. Others come with two connectors.

Your power supply only has one 8-pin (6+2) cable.

So you need to check which GTX 1070 model it is and how many connectors it has.
