Criteria for MM access has changed.

I have been here since 2005 and up untill the last couple of years was not very active. I have 0.5 posts per day average. It is doable but will take you a while :P

Why are the only people moaning those with low post counts the majority of which dont have access?

You obviously miss the point of a community forum completely if you wish to join up just to be able to flog your second hand gear to others.

If you want to make money this is not the place. I have found in general stuff sells here for less than ebay for example. People don't profiteer and good deals can be had. I choose to sell here because I hate all the dim people on ebay who cannot read which the results in a drawn out argument and paypal screwing you over.

I have been guilty of sending stuff out a couple of days late but other than the odd delay i have not had any problems selling or buying here and will continue to use the service.

If your here purely for the MM then you have missed the point.

If your here purely for the MM then you have missed the point.

Precisely.

Those that are opposing the change have obviously been fortunate not to have been on the receiving end of a bad deal, here or elsewhere. Given the ones I've been dealing with recently, it's actually quite appealing and sad. No one should be on the receiving end of that. As I said earlier, there's nothing we can do to stop this kind of behaviour but we can make changes to reduce the risk whether it's popular or not is irrelevant.

What i've seen is if your a long term here your covered, the staff in the forum on that section favour the regulars way too much! Just what i seen as well as heard!

Really, first I've heard about this?

payment via paypal only, a payment to use the section via paypal will give ocuk forums an address. £1. id pay that to use the section knowing i've given my address for this!

What us is an address if they still fail to pay or send goods unless your going through the legal system, which would be to expensive and time consuming.

I do love the fact that apparently I was protected during the SS royal mail fail, because I'm a popular poster. I've been suspended a few times. Post count means nothing on these forums, and that's why I enjoy them so much.

You certainly aren't a popular poster. I for one, hate you.

;) :p

I've read these forums for years. Maybe I should have started posting a bit earlier :D Oh well, seems like a good idea. I guess people would feel a bit cautious about selling/buying from someone who has just hit 250+ posts.

To be fair, whilst I have gone into MM, I've only ever considered buying of people with high post counts.

I've taken a punt on another site with lower post counts and it just doesn't give you reassurances of a person who has been around for a long time. I know I should be more active here. I been around a while!

Its the users trust details that count not the post count.

This is true although for some people one is almost synoymous with the other as I suppose the prevailing thinking would be that if people have spent enough time to rack up a huge post count then even if they haven't conducted many trades yet they're unlikely to be willing to throw away the enjoyment they've had in the community just to scam some people for a few quid.

It's not an absolute by any means and it's not to imply that you shouldn't take the normal precautions as with any trade including checking Trust, exchanging address details etc but it feels like an extra level of reassurance I think.

Increasing the post count threshold does nothing to fix the flawed assumption that people have, which is post count = trustworthy. Nor is increasing the post count threshold going to make people more trustworthy.

It's all a bit silly, really. If you're going to assess trustworthiness, do it by length of time registered, a taste of post history and of course the trust section of the site.

and my 8 years on the forum would make me reasonably trustworthy to deal with in the MM.

ding ding ding

I've got to be honest I think this is a good thing I always thought the access limit was too low for the members market, as it has been previously mentioned it's not a right it's a service. Everyone know you will generally get better prices for your kit on ebay but in the reverse everyone know you can get a bargain in the MM.

I think the mods generally do a good job in there. I personally think the limit should have been set higher to maybe 2500 posts + 1 year.

I have built up my trust on the MM and enjoy trading on there but after being on the end of a sour deal recently it does make you wonder wether to keep trading.

I think the new rules for entering the MM are a great idea.

i don't think i could put up with the hassle of not sending something i've sold, there is too much to lose by putting your account at risk trying to scam someone of a couple of quid.

but alas there will always be people in this world with no conscience who will rip off and steal without thinking of the concequences or batting an eyelid, for those people who have spoiled the MM for the new people shame on you, i for one never knew of the MM the sole reason for joining was to try and post enough for free shipping :D, but the community has dragged me in and i enjoy passing the time at work reading other peoples ramblings. for me its too much of a bad thing to be removed from here..

still don't think i can build up the courage to buy or sell anything yet :D

A shame about the post number increase but a bigger shame there are crooks abusing what sounds like quite a cool service. Been buying my kit off OcUk for years and been a fairly avid reader of the forums but only fairly recently started posting. I can see the logic behind the change but it will be a long time before I ever get access. Hope some day customer loyalty over time might be taken onto account in combination with a lower number of posts. Shall continue using the forums in the meantime.

Whatever you say mate.

So i'm right then?

What i've seen is if your a long term here your covered, the staff in the forum on that section favour the regulars way too much! Just what i seen as well as heard!
Not true at all. The staff will help anyone they can make money out of (not in a bad way!). They'll help you with problems you have. They'll do the best they an to provide good CS. Post count matters not. When I was a newbie with about 50 posts, rjk and 5UB were both incredibly patient with me when I needed help and complained at everything.

AV forums you get to apeal, proper contact with mods, no hidden stuff like it is here and what not. You also stick your location and all my recent trades have been done with an address given! This is a rule which not all follow but if it it did itd allow for an ass kicking if someone defered from the sale!
There's excellent contact with mods here. Literally no doubt about it.

payment via paypal only, a payment to use the section via paypal will give ocuk forums an address. £1. id pay that to use the section knowing i've given my address for this!

Most people prefer BT on here.
