Criteria for MM access has changed.

If you want to cut down on MM scamming, setup rules that Paypal gift, bank transfer and all the stupid methods of payment that don't have security are not allowed, and if used then used at own risk.

The fact is people are too trusting to other users, use a payment method that is secure and has comeback if the other participant doesn't come through, job done.

What payment methods would these be? What payment method has security you speak of? Normally people request bank transfer (BT) over paypal to avoid paypal issues. Paypal gift has no come back and paypal have been known to investigate paypal gift payments if they suspect it is to avoid fees (which the majority of people do use exactly for this reason) and normal paypal payment with fees I did not think protected you at all unless it was a transaction made via an ebay purchase.

Just using paypal for private sales I did not think gave any protection. If it does, you have the whole issue of paypal siding with the buyer anyway. So paypal generally is if anything avoided and BT preferred. I do not know of any other payment methods that offer more "security". Someone please enlighten me if there is.

As for the new requirements. Hmm. I'm not sure really. It would be good to be able to submit a request to mods for genuine sellers. Like for example a form to request access which would have to include:

Name: XXXXXXX

OCUK account number (with atleast 3 transactions totalling more than say £50 each all sent to the same address on file): XXXXXXX

Email (linked to above account and verified): XXXXXXX

Ebay user ID (only accounts with 100% feedback, minimum say 50 positive feedback and member for 1 year+) considered with each request: XXXXXXXX

I know the mods do this for free, but with the above atleast they could have a queue of submitted requests and they could activate them having looked into the information provided and just keep the info in a spreadsheet/DB for future. Do you guys think this would be a system realistically worth looking into and that it would filter scammers?

Unless things have changed drastically since I last was involved, there number of trouble transactions are very much the minority. You only need one person to cause a problem but I don't think it deserves a knee jerk reaction. Obviously the steps taken by Thundy and the MM team are what they think is an appropriate measure. I don't think giving the MM mods more admin will really make the MM any more safe. There will always be problem transactions, this is inevitable, you just need to keep them as low as possible.

I'm not expecting you to change it.

All I have done is point out that I don't agree with it, the reasons why I don't agree with it, and the potential negatives for OCUK and the people that use the MM by doing it.

For doing that (and this is what I am taking offense) I am being called a scammer without the benefit of the doubt, people questioning my integrity and honesty arbitrarily, people calling me lazy for not posting a lot, and generally suffering people who should be upstanding members of the forum being rude and disrespectful.

Really, you don't have to destroy my reputation to state that you disagree with me and the reasons why.

Robbo's point was, you want a service which isn't your right and you can't be bothered to meet the expectations needed to access that service. That's lazy and quite frankly, pathetic.

As TC said, you're treating it as a right - which it isn't.

It does state in the OP that people caught spamming will have their post count removed. It will take you around 2 years at your current posting rate wont it? Unless my maths fails.

It's dead easy to get to 1000 posts just be a moany git who complains and argues with everyone.

Join any thread in SC and you can spam for 10-15 pages arguing schemantics with some other forum user.

:D

Whatever you say mate.

Worth it, I've ahd to report an increasing number of posts in MM where people are displaying the behaviours of "do a runner sydnrome" :(

A lto above have mentioned the whole fully linking to your shop account and thigns like that, OcUK can't give this info out if requested due to the DPA.

Yeah it's gonna annoy a few people that were wanting to get access, but if you're here regularly you'll have the posts in no time at all :) (And I post relatively little compared to some on here)

What i've seen is if your a long term here your covered, the staff in the forum on that section favour the regulars way too much! Just what i seen as well as heard!

AV forums you get to apeal, proper contact with mods, no hidden stuff like it is here and what not. You also stick your location and all my recent trades have been done with an address given! This is a rule which not all follow but if it it did itd allow for an ass kicking if someone defered from the sale!

payment via paypal only, a payment to use the section via paypal will give ocuk forums an address. £1. id pay that to use the section knowing i've given my address for this!

Pyro ill disagree with you, The mods/admins here are a lot better than you will find on most forums, If u email them asking for any help u will get a response and they do actually post, I dont see that much elsewere. As for the regulars bit its close knit community. I havn't had access to the MM yet but im not fussed (although to me this new criteria does suck as i hate HDD prices) although i usually buy new

AV have plenty of bad deals. So your argument is flawed.

You just have to look at the number of regulars & I do mean some of the very high posters on here who are suspended to realise that your statement is a bit misguided to say the least, two months membership isn't really enough to judge if you ask me.

What utter nonsense.

Exactly. Because:

I do love the fact that apparently I was protected during the SS royal mail fail, because I'm a popular poster. I've been suspended a few times. Post count means nothing on these forums, and that's why I enjoy them so much.
