Criteria for MM access has changed.

Maybe add a time period of acceptance?

For example, I doubt anyone will have made an account in 2003, for the sole purpose of returning in 10 years to scam someone for £200.

It seems a lot of people are long time members, but don't post much.

Only just spotted this... great move Thundy.

The MM is a great resource and the vast majority of my dealings have been absolutely excellent! I'd also lilke to thank the mods too - their diligence and hard work really make the place safer and an absolute pleasure to use! :)

From personal experience I've been scammed a couple of times (once for a reasonable value) which wasn't nice. The best approach is just to be as careful as you can and remember - if a price is too good to be true then it probably is! :D

Sounds like a good idea to raise the criteria to me.

Personally I haven't used the MM (*) but there does seem to be a few people obviously spamming their way up to the old limit, (I noticed one the other day which had been suspended and had their post count reduced to 0).

There will always be some who want to claim they are not a shop ...

(*) every time I see something I'd like it's either already gone or I can't afford it at that particular time ... although I have been tempted with a few things recently.

You should see what access you get when you get to 65k+ :D

Although I don't use the MM, from the numerous amounts of issues that are reported and that I see, this can only be a good move.

Thanks for the support.

You also need to have configured your trust account, which is why you havent seen it.
Apologies for sounding slow on this.

How does one configure the "trust account"? - I'd never heard of it until today.

I assumed access opened up over time/post count.

Edit - figured it out.. (doh! - seems it was under my nose)

Now that's setup do I need to get to 1000 posts now & wait a few months?, or will access be given (as I met the criteria before)

I've never had a problem in MM, and have accumulated a healthy Trust rating, so I count myself as one of the lucky ones. However, as a spectator I have seen some proper scams and deals go west over the years. :(

Building Trust is the thing, and new members have to start at the bottom. With the new rules (and if people continue to follow the guidelines in the sticky regarding conducting deals) the scenario where the buyer demands the goods sent first because the seller has no Trust rating should be a thing of the past. I've never agreed with that, although I can see why it happens.

Lastly, I've had some real bargains from the MM and will continue to sell my old or replaced kit in there. Long may it continue.
