Crysis Multiplayer Beta now on Fileplanet

Thanks weringo, really appreciate that :)

I'm just downloading a client now, 1436mb in size, does that sound like the right one?

Is it actually any good though? The amount of hype this game gets is mad, its like PC gamers relaying on a good game to outshine the consoles :P

Im expecting it to look nice but fall short on story and get a bit boring.

i personally dislike the online play so far. map is way too big, and there is zero co-ordination between players and goals. the fact you have to score points to get better weapons is annoying, as it means the strong get stronger, with the ranged weapons and much more powerful rifles, and the weaker players are stuck with literally point blank range weapons.

and on this map (shore) it leaves you at an annoying disadvantage. they really need to remove some of those 'special powers'. invisibility definately.

i can really see that power making the campaign a pushover, unless there is some sort of catch like they use heatvision or something to see you.

all in all, visually pleasing, but once that wears off, it gets tiresome and boring

Sounds like pretty much every online game I've played in recent years.

You do know there's more to getting points than killing people, right? You can capture structures or you can scan for enemies with radar or paint them using binoculars, this gives you points, and you should also know that you get far more points for killing a higher ranked player than they get for killing you.

Then play on the North Korean team? Games with attacker/defender type maps that favour the defender are nothing new whatsoever.

Aye, let's not bother using our brains and thinking tactically, let's just cry for stuff to be nerfed. Right now I can think of at least three ways to disable someone's cloak, all of which also leave them with 50% less HP than someone with armour activated (i.e. twice as easy to kill!) I will let you figure them out for yourself. :)

Ulf: Does Crysis use your quad properly also have you noticed any difference updating from your E6300? My Q6600 G0 should be here monday/tuesday using a DS3 rev1 and AF7 Pro.

The Crysis beta client doesn't use quad core whatsoever I'm afraid, but the retail version will. As for the difference, I noticed no improvement going from E6300 to Q6600 apart from raw speed (unless you're talking about more than just gaming, I've noticed a huge improvement in things like encoding/decoding and compressing/decompressing stuff.)

I never bought this processor expecting to see a difference in games apart from Supreme Commander for the next few months or until late next year, but if you're stuck for something to upgrade and do more than gaming on your PC then it's worth it. :)

I have just got a quad Q6600 after playing with a E2160, my FPS are exactly the same. They say the final games with support quads though.

*Edit - Ulf beat me to it :D
