by the time crysis is out ill have:
e6600
4gb ram
8800gtx
playing at 1280x1024
vista 64mb

Would i be playing at ultra?

Of course

With DirectX10 enabled though, who knows what your framerate will be, not all that high I'd imagine

At that resolution, I would have thought so.

I thought that when Far Cry was released the fastest card was a 9800XT or a Geforce 5950 Ultra? I recall reading in PC Gamer that only when the 6800GT/Ultra was released could all the graphical goodness be seen.

Just priced up a pc with that spec £900 thats just mobo/ram/cpu/agp/hdd sod that, last time i upgraded for a game was HL2 and I will never upgrade for a pc game ever again, I will just wait a few years or play it on the lowest settings

good point id rather have very smooth gameplay so ill probably have to play on highish settings.

Last time I upgraded was for HL2 as well. 3500, 7800GTX, 1GB etc.. Now I'm looking at a full rebuild to C2Q, 8800GTX, 4GB etc... :(

The DX10 Video's always looked really smooth, and they have to be on Vista. :)

how do steam show a video in full AA AF 60fps+ when the hardware wasnt out at the time for hl2 as an example ..... unles just not to consumers ???

I think its true-ish

I mean FarCry's graphics were immense for the time and you didnt need something amazingly special

Maybe its just great engine work?

They can do a non-realtime render, provided it can render the detail, they can run it at 1fps for a minute and they can have 1 second @ 60fps of footage.

L O L @ all the people saying it'll run slowly because it uses dx10 etc.

Stop comparing crysis, a game designed from the ground up to be run on the pc, with other games like hal0 2, lost planet, R6 vegas because they AREN'T designed solely for the pc from the ground up.

No-one can say anything till you get to play a final build.... but if one of the chief makers of crysis says it'll run with that hardware... it sodding well will run with that hardware.

The hardware is out, they only started showing the DX10 vids after the G80's came. Before then they demo'd with crossfire 1900's in DX9C mode.

He is the CEO of Crytek, basically he owns Crytek :D

Recent article in PC Gamer stated the game would run ok with 2Gigs, a C2D and an 8800 I think, but that the hardware would need to catch up for a while yet to enable highest settings.

Well yer but to us we will think were maxing it out on the game options to the designers we maybe 60% maxing it out and they will slowly bring it up to 100% when newer technology comes in.

Bear in mind these are only estimates, but the system requirements to run Crysis on 'Ultra High' have been released. These do seem fairly credible, as the requirements were stated by Cervat Yerli in an interview with GamesRadar. Anyway, here's the link.

Essentially, the requirements are:

CPU: E6600 Core 2 Duo
Graphics: Nvidia 8800GTS
RAM: 2GB

Seems that this isn't as demanding as first thought, though this game has been highly optimized.

Sweet, I'll be good to go with Crysis on my new PC then :D (8800gtx, 2gb ram, e6600, p35-ds4)
