CS:GO Discussion

Really though the gameplay in BF3 is a bit boring really....

It is fun for about 100 hours until you get to rank 50 and the whole thing gets a bit boring... The gameplay mechanics and the recoil is all very "noobified" and there is not much depth to the game after the initial novelty wears off.... Nice graphics thoug...

Totally disagree.

Rank 50 has come and gone for me and I'm still playing.

Whereas something like Call of Duty, as soon as I had unlocked everything and stopped ranking up, I got bored.

Almost 400 hours so far, really excited for the Armoured Kill expansion.

The guns are not "noobified" it is the most accurate representation of recoil I've seen in a game.

Gun's are not crazy ass recoil machines, they are actually extremely controllable if you know what you're doing.

Hours played on CoD1/CoD2, without ranks and rewards: 2,500+

Hours played on later CoD games: 250.

Hours played on BF2, without a trillion rewards and no real promise of ranking up: 2,000+

Hours played on BF3: 125.

The games are just getting worse, sorry.

I can't speak on whether guns are 'crazy recoil machines' or not because I have never personally fired one, I will say though that DICE spend a lot of time collaborating with real life marines and seals etc during game development so there's a fairly high chance their representation of how a gun operates is probably closer than most FPS games.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion :)

I was also a big fan of the original call of duty games (1 + 2) and also BF1942 + BF2, which I sunk countless hours into.

I don't understand peoples gripes with BF3 tho, I feel it improves on every aspect of BF2.

Get yourself out to the US.

Went to Vegas last year, fired a Colt 1911, Thompson, AK47, M4 and a Sig 552 with ACOG, was an awesome experience.

Maybe you are just getting older and more cynical lol.

All the weapons are simplified, the maps are pretty much completely forgettable. 'Improvements' in graphics and visuals are actually drawbacks and inconveniences; too much visual clutter and pointless decor. Vehicles are terrible compared to BF2 and do not play anywhere near the same role. Movement and fundamental mechanics are far less responsive and are not as refined.

From a competitive POV BF3 is useless. BF2 was pretty damn good.

Done that myself and couldn't tell you if the recoil in any game is 'realistic' or not.

After an hour on the range firing through one magazine I doubt DICE would be ringing me for ballistics advice.

I have been a few times but it just wasn't something that entered my mind, I'm going back to San Francisco for my honeymoon in February so I might write this down on my to do list =) Always wanted to know what it feels like to pull the trigger on a loaded barrett 50 cal, that would be brilliant!

The ironic thing is that modern game developers love to brag and advertise how they've gone to the 'military' for R&D and advice. Remember those hype videos of DICE hanging out with the Swedish military? Doing day-long exercises and drills? Those were clearly just corporate 'team-building' exercises, because none of that realism made it into the game. They recorded the sounds of the guns and that was it. Gunplay in BF3 was a moronic experience. It took about 30 minutes to master all the guns.

How do you think the weapons are simplified?

I really like the movement, BF3 feels very physical, like you're actually connected to the environment, and I love the suppression mechanic, I think it's something all games should have.

Anyway this isn't the BF3 thread, sorry for derailing slightly :)

Still haven't spent much time on CS:GO, gave it 10 minutes at lunch, wasn't blown away, will get on it more when I get home.

M249? Nice :D

I did think about that myself but it just chews through the rounds so quickly!!

Saving to go back, and checking out other options to see if there is anywhere cheaper.

I'd love to be an American so I could own guns :(

It was amazing, literally tore the target into tiny bits. The instructor advised to fire a couple semi first, then once you got used to the kick it was a case of full auto.

As you say, great experience I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone thinking of going :)

Did not realise there were so many die hard CS players on here.

RE BF3, you cannot deny that BF3 is the better game technically than any CS game. Graphics, physics, scale, bullet drop/recoil, gear customisations and so on...

Which one you find more fun though is really personal opinion.

Not sure why it would be so bad to change the game? You all want to be playing the exact same game in 50 years time? Seems like some people's definition of hell.
