CS:GO Discussion

Thorin is known for kicking people when they're down as Ayahuasca says. This isn't the first time it's happened but this is the worst of a bad bunch.
Yes he would have freedom of speech if it was his tournament, but he is an employee of a company at the end of the day and he cannot be saying that.

I never said anyone can become a pro player, I just said talent only goes so much and training goes a long way.

It's easy to say x can or can't be a pro with training. But let's say something like this
if you take a 11/12 years old and make him play csgo a LOT daily and "train" him, do you think in 2-3 years he'll be able to play in a good team>?

talent means you take someone who has played almost NEVER a fps and put in him, and in a couple of hours he is a beast. That's talent.

you've got 1600 hours in csgo, i've got almost 400. Do you think if i put those hours i can be a GE myself?(and i mean i put those hours in a couple of months) i am at lem level now.

I have the feeling like our definition of talent is a little different. I refer to talent/genius someone who, when you give him a task, he will get very fast, very good at it.

on our quarters jkeam is playing like a beast.

Ah ok, probably slight misunderstanding and I have a thing against le XFactor generation of "if you rly want something you can do it" kind things :D

Dude GE is so bad right now with just aim and proper movement you'll be there in no time.

Half my CSGO hrs is the game being open rather than me playing it

Except with Thorin it's not just a few ideas. He seems to get a thrill out of kicking people when they are already down. Like I said above he might genuinely have a problem because he regularly stands there stone faced just making passive aggressive comments and not thinking before he speaks. I admire people who speak their mind but there's a difference between doing it for a purpose and doing it just to annoy people. It's extremely unprofessional a lot of the time.

I am not questioning his analysis on CSGO, he regularly gets things spot on, I just wish he'd chill out a bit with looking for a jab at every possible moment.

He has chilled out a lot though recently, his jabs are more towards other analysts or teams that are un-performing. Both acceptable, given that he is good friends with a lot of them and it has been said many times that its just banter and they all work closely to know that.

His Poland stuff in context was not as bad as how it was reported, still not worth saying? sure...but 99% of the people that whined about it didn't even see the show it was discussed on and how it even came to light in the first place. (Unfiltered)
and bringing up a thread from what 2005? just no......

I also dislike this 'professional' narrative people keep on spewing about, the money in the scene is tiny compared to other big events.
Personality trumps professionalism and this has been seen countless times throughout e-sports history. It doesn't matter how much money is being pumping into events, if you don't have the personalities backing you up, you have nothing.

Whether or not you think the scene is tiny compared to other E-Sports, ESL are clearly trying to be more professional. Not sure how anyone can defend Thorin on his views in this particular case.

Lets imagine I work for Toyota and on facebook or some podcast I make it known that I think Japan and the Japanese are trash etc. How long do you think I would keep my job?

Thorin was to be one of the main faces for the event in Poland, working with a Polish crew. His comments were so far passed "banter" and acceptable. ESL pretty much had no choice.

That doesn't mean we cannot have personalities in CS:GO. Of course we want people with strong opinions and not a bunch of robots reading from a sheet.

my problem is that people use that against him when he is just giving analyst banter, as if the two are even connected.

Unfiltered was/is a very off the cuff talk show, even Chanman has said that he feels guilt in not putting a stop to Destiny egging on Thorin during that particular episode.
Not an excuse of course but people forget the entire context of it all (and the show), he paid the price in not being able to host ESL at least in Poland and I think that's more than fair.

But it should not be used as ammo by immature individuals who cant handle the fact that he is still employed elsewhere for very valid and worthwhile reasons.

8 wins on the trot now at LE, pretty much 2nd/3rd fragging with good kills/points and still not ranked up, but a fellow LE guy who I play with all the time with 5 wins who finished below kills/points ranks up to LEM - hate this system at times lol

Definitely seems you need a good 8+ wins to rank up to LEM. Although likewise, it takes quite a few defeats to de-rank from LE.

it not as much as how many wins you have, it's how you went in them. if you're 2nd/3rd fragging in your team, but the other team has also 2 players fragging better than you, then you are actually 4/6th on the server.

Also it matters if you won 16-14 or 16-8. The system takes into account how many rounds you take.

It also matters who you are pitted against. You know you are rising to the next level or falling, when both teams have the next rank (or the one below if you are de-ranking).

I think MVP is taken into account heaviy too as I have ranked up due to being top two on the server a few games despite some losses then the next win i rank up.

I then had a terrible streal and deranked. So it was a fragile rank up that took 3 wins to get back up again. Oh the pain of battling in the GN ranks haha (GN3).

I agree in my experience only takes a few games with a decent amount of MVP's and you start seeing interesting match making with the next ranks up appearing.

Edit:

The player who scores an MVP is rewarded a significantly larger share of Elo Points than the other four players (which COULD HAVE but didn't score the MVP). However if the player with most points gains a MVP he will always get less points than a player who does not have the most points. Please do not confuse this sentence, he will still get a lot more points than the other four players that didn't get the MVP.

Bottomline: The player with most MVP will most likely gain more Elo Points than others.

Hi guys posting for a friend.

this is his current laptop spec

i7
Nvidia 850M
16GB DDR3

he was playing csgo fine with 180+ FPS running perfectly fine.
Now all of a sudden it's like capped at 60!
I've done everything, turned Vysn off in nvidia control panel and in game still capped at 60.. I'm lost for words or what to try..

Win 10? If so Xbox app might be capping it. Could also be 3rd party software such as RTSS from Afterburner.

Trying to derank is harder than ranking up...

Tell me about it, since they fixed the spacebar glitch it's been a mare. Lost 7 games in a row yesterday on my LE smurf....still LE -_-
