CS:GO Discussion

Thanks, that match there was my 4th win and I've lost 2 or 3 I think. I've always had a decent positive KDR though, if it makes any difference.

Lets see how CS:GO plays now, I'll go for the 4.5Ghz tomorrow. I still think the voltage is too high, this cpu is capable of more. :)

Edit

For some strange reason fps_max 999 feels smoother than fps_max 300. Even though my FPS never drops below 299, I still feel like the game is not running how it should... anyone get that feeling? ...

Joel with no insane lag...THANK THE LORD!! My poor eyes when he was last alive and the only one you could spectate. Not because of his plays but his constant horrific lag.

initial report is its very weird.

8 months of playing with a ping between 150-300 and now going to a ping around the 20 mark.

played 2 games last night,

1st game i got 29 kills but it was on my MGE smurf so doesnt really count but we got the win.

2nd game we lost and i had about 20 kills.

it feels so much better, cant wait to put some more time in to get back used to it.

My mate just started playing CS. He was quite good at LoL, and waaaaaay back he used to play CoD 2. His FPS skills aren't the greatest (will probably start at silver/low gold once he gets his rank) but he started playing. 10 hours in, he got 3900XP and he nearly got bored of the game. It's either casual where he dies after a few seconds, or death match where he gets very few kills (and thus very few XP). Hopped on his account to boost him up a bit. Got like 1200 XP (probably more) in about 1 hour of play.

The limits are too high. People want to jump in Matchmaking where they face people of equal skill. DM and casual are not fun and they teach you nothing except aim.

So your mate dies all the time on casual and can barely get any kills on DM but you want to throw him into Match Making lol? This probably shows more than ever that the system is working. That he needs to work on the game mechanics and get the aim going before jumping into games.

I think the team work may help out, plus having less players.

Because surely MM he will get grouped with people of similar skill?

I think there will be another campaign released soon. If his mate doesn't mind buying the pass he can probably rank up to level 3 or 4 in two days.

virgin media here.
I opened the mm server selection tool. About a month ago, on the Luxembourg servers I had around 40 ping (a little less, but around), last week i had around 70-80, yesterday i had around 120-170.
Vienna which is i think eu central or smf is giving me around 40-50 ping. Anyone else having ping problems?

unless you hit the bandwidth bottleneck you should NOT have ping issues. Streaming and gaming online are quite different.
Streaming takes bandwidth, ping does not matter, it is a open connection from one point to the end. Think of it as a long download.
online gaming is like a crap load of small downloads and uploads. Hence ping matter, that's when you get the download(package).

He doesn't die all the time. He doesn't go 20-5, but 5-10, getting less than 100xp per game. No use playing against people with level 42 (post service medal) and get wrecked. Rather he plays MM vs silver 1s.

Probably am hitting the limit. Ping spikes disappear as soon as streaming is cut off. I understand its a UDP connection and does not have to be state full like TCP. Wouldn't packet loss push up the ping?

There is a well known routing issue between the UK and the server hosting valve has been using. It pops up randomly for people on VM and BT (+ all the other companies using BTs lines obviously)

Saw a few days ago someone was saying a hop that goes to GTT.net's servers was causing the +120ms in lag.

Its a routing issue, its been around for ages and hasn't been fixed yet.

I can't get ping below 70ms, now when my FPS are stable the ping is high. F this game... valve have so much money of that game... well probably more from the actual market. But they can't fix simple bugs, that any other game developer seems to cope with.

BTW I stopped trying at MM a long time ago, even before my brake. The server's are rubbish compared to e.g. Faceit. The only issues is, their ranking system sucks... :(
