CS:GO Discussion

I think I am going to have to give up on it. Connection is really bad even though other games are ok and constant crashes to desktop. It's a shame. I was looking forward to this.

Really pleased with this game, got the game maxed out with 4xAA and still maintaining a solid 120+fps.

Looks brilliant.

Would much prefer game makers to come out with games like this where you can max out all the settings and get such good frame rates.

It's much more plesant to play than a game that struggles to hold 50fps.

can someone else post their net graph so I can compare?

This game does come across as severely unfinished and lacking in any sort of polish. There is also an irritating issue with connecting to servers.

well they did just rename the beta :p , also valve should have just made it from the get go instead of hidden source then it wouldn't need fixing, I know valve is doing the patches [apparently] so now we have to wait about a year or so till its fixed

same here, the sensitivity is odd on cs go.. :/ :o i can't get on with it either, and yes i have changed it.

I take it you have raw input checked in the mouse settings and acceleration turned off?

if so then I don't know, seems fine for me

Does anyone else get this annoying problem that they get kicked for 001.vpk (or whatever) if they don't verify file integrity and constantly re-download 3.1MB from Steam and 'setting up for the first time' everytime they exit and want to play again

Does anyone know of the ports that need to be forwarded?
I've been having intermittent problems connecting with friends servers/friends with my servers.
I actually think this is pretty good not played counterstrike for such a long time but I personally think it is an improvement (just my opinion hold fire), I think a game like this is always going to divide as old school players want the old experience from a game they mastered & younger less refined gamers want all the new bells & whistles, never going to please everyone.

I'm on Virgin Media 20mb, people having reg issues can try this (its improved for me):
- cl_cmdrate & cl_updaterate set to either 64 or 128 (forget what you know about rates being at 100, this is GO not Source or 1.6)
- rate at 30000 or 35000

Gameplay tips:
- Try not to spray, after the first shot the spread pattern is mostly random.
- Double-tap or single shot for more effectiveness.
- Crouching down might give you better accuracy but makes you an easier target.
- Strafing side to side gives you better chance at surviving, although random headshots occur more frequently.
- Shooting through walls mostly works.
- Shooting in the general direction will tag players and knock their aim but with low damage.

A few things that Hidden Path definitely need to refine are footsteps (really hard to judge distance at times), the fog (really really bad on aztec), aim punch (should only be on headshot not on body shots) and allowing tasers in competitive mode :D

this I get confused trying to get locations of people by sound

I've found the only solution right now is to keep volume pretty low. Before I was picking up footsteps from half-way across the map with no way to determine distance. It's really bad.

Mastery of sound in 1.6 was essentially wallhacks. Perhaps they wanted to deviate from this?

Im done with this game, competitive 5on5 is so dire, all the maps are identical anyway, so may as well just play CSS, if it's not broke why break it ? \:

Waste of £10 correct.

Sceptical of any third party devs working with Valve now ¬_¬ where's the innovation?

Few things that IMO need work.

-the sound is TERRIBLE. Played a match on Train yesterday and you could hear people scoping around T main from side ally, which is pathetic. Although the sound is loud and distant, I can't make out where the sounds are coming from and how close they actually are. The sound in css meant I could easily predict where to move and where to expect an enemy.

-Running and shooting seems worse than ever from the small amount of time I have played. Everytime someone runs while spraying it seems it automatically follows my head. A few people have been able to hit every bullet with a deagle even at range, when they have no aim what so ever when I spec them.

-Since they removed backsteps and played around with the lower bombsite, Nuke has been ruined.

-No silencers for the M4 seems dissapointing, especially since you can't use it to your advantage when clutching rounds.

-the heavy machine guns are SEVERELY overpowered, coupled with the strafe shooting.

They are my main gripes so far, but i'm sure there will be some big updates coming soon to resolve the biggest problems.

CS:GO will need at least a year's tweaking before it settles down I think ..... Source was a bit dire at the start and even the transition to TF2 codebase took some getting used to as well.

I agree that Nuke is now a fairly crap map (as well as Train too).

all the maps apart from office and aztec are pants they are exactly the same as the source maps just with added props and the scale of them are way too small just like the css ones were
