CS:GO Discussion

7 Wins in a row stay at MGE
2 Loses and down to MG
1 Win stay as MG
1 Loss and down to GN4

I was top 3 in all of the wins and even loses and boom bye bye rank, this game...

I don't get the new ranking structure. Seems impossible to gain ranks and far to easy to lose ranks.

Yup. Ranking system sux. 5 wins, nothing. Then 2 games, 2 losses, 2 deranks. Was playing pretty well I thought too, 2nd and a 3rd place and I was the lowest ranked. Might have to start playing GTA5 again.

MG1: 2 wins, rank up.
MG2: 1 win, rank up.
MGE: 1 loss and two wins, rank up.
DMG: 3 wins, 1 loss and a draw, rank up.

Granted it used to be a GE account but if anything ranking up is easier in my experience so far :p

Is there a cs:go sale on or something?

Lot of cheaters on tonight.

Yes, there is.

I logged in to get the message that i've played with a cheater/vac banned player and my rank/competitive games have been adjusted accordingly.:(

Was GN2, won 7 in a row, ranked up to GN3, lost one, dropped back to GN2 (), logged in to above message today, dropped to GN1:confused:, played and won one game - back to GN2

I mean seriously what is going on!!!

I'm not playing CS until the next OP now, just felt like I needed a break and really could do with some new maps.

Better be a bloody spectacular OP, the amount of time we have had to wait!

Even when playing with mates, where's the fun in playing vs a blatant cheat? In three games there was a minimum of two cheaters. One was so bad we almost beat them.

Yea its funny, I start fragging better vs a hack sometimes anyway. Its a big clue because they are awful. Cant take MM too serious

$1.61 for Csgo in Russia

The UK player on complexity vs Liquid with a Ukraine transfer match is about to start.

Funny. I'm Global, all accounts, and I played at a high level on css, and whilst playing cs go, I rarely come across cheaters.

I do find it's the bad players that tend to apparently have 2-3 cheaters a game. Note apparently, not everyone who is good is a cheater, perhaps you're just bad? But I'm only speculating, everyone seems to cry cheater yet it's not as frequent as you may think.

"The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which relatively unskilled persons suffer illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability to be much higher than it really is. Dunning and Kruger attributed this bias to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their own ineptitude and evaluate their own ability accurately. Their research also suggests corollaries: highly skilled individuals may underestimate their relative competence and may erroneously assume that tasks which are easy for them are also easy for others.

Dunning and Kruger proposed that, for a given skill, incompetent people will:

fail to recognize their own lack of skill
fail to recognize the extent of their inadequacy
fail to recognize genuine skill in others
recognize and acknowledge their own lack of skill, after they are exposed to training for that skill."

Back in BF3 and then in BF4 I was a "pro" player and have been banned from numerous servers for cheating, been followed around by cheat busters because it was "obvious" I was cheating. Admittedly I and others didn't help ourselves when humble bundle came out (much like a CSGO sale) and we went full try hard in heli/jets so have a 189KD ratio on that account lel.

I won't call names but he'll know who he is, every few days I see on his screenshots saying he got beat by a wallhacker or some such rubbish. It's this mindset that is hilarious, there really isn't a blatant cheater in every other nova game and very much ties into the Dunning Kruger effect that I mentioned. If you are always bottom fragging in nova games, it really isn't hackers that are the issue.

Oh youre global on all accounts and played at a high level on css? That must mean you're amazing and anyone else's opinion is rendered moot.

I played CS from the get go, at a very high level. I don't cry cheater unless I've had a look at the demos. It's no coincidence that the two games I played just after a steam sale when CSGO is £5 that there are more cheaters about.

what's funny about it?

while I don't believe that anyone encounters 2-3 cheaters per game, it's foolish/arrogant/fanboystickmyheadinthesand if you think the game is not heavily effected by hackers.
you're quite right - bad, or rather inexperienced players will not necessarily be able to tell the difference between a hacker and a very good player (usually a smurf:rolleyes: that's another rant for anther time) but I and many others on here have been playing long enough and at a decent enough level to know the difference. while I may not be global across my single account, I've put in enough time and effort to know what I am seeing. I haven't taken time to document every instance and the exact frequency but I'd hazard a guess your looking at 1 in 5 games, at least in my view.

those that want to look at the game with rose tinted glasses and those that are too blinded by their own brilliance may not agree, but the fact is the game is a cesspit (or rather the community - the game itself is fun!) - as posted above, $1.61 for a key in Russia - do not try and tell me that there wont be a huge swathe of those end up as hacker accounts.

I purely solo, so maybe I am more acutely aware of the problems with the game. I guess when you're in with a team of 5 mates it's easier to miss the problems, or sweep them aside.

Reality is that there is truth on both sides of the argument.

Yes in general players in lower ranks are far more likely to cry wolf.

But there has been a marked increase in players being banned over the last few months. Vacban sites and faceit bans both reflect this.
Just checked my last 4 MM games, 2 games now both have VAC banned accounts on the opposite team.
Even one of my recent faceit games a player got OW banned.

and this applies to who?

Those who dare say someone is cheating? Or every human?

The dunning-Kruger effect is just a generalisation really. There's plenty have picked holes in its accuracy, but as a generalisation it's not a bad premise. At the lowest levels of any skillset there will be those who don't/can't recognise someone who is simply better than them. It is certainly not a foolproof model though, and as long as a people accept that then it's fine.

I cant find the thread but one guy saved every demo of every game he played for 6 months then ran the vac check on all players.
I can list most of the players VAC'd in Jan and Feb from games Ive been in

The global players wont notice these kids hacking, with their my first hack kit because they are so bad. I notice because Im at that pleb level where it does make a difference in their skill vs me, it tips the scale. These minor details are more obvious to those still on the ground below Eagle :p
