CS:GO Discussion

I've noticed that some of the new revamped maps, all the textures are pristine. I really noticed it in the new Nuke. I miss corroded metal. :(

Looks too much like TF2!

Um couple of points for your settings vid, you should use fullscreen setting with brightness at 1.6. Atm you are using windowed which is inherently laggy. Also NEVER use fxaa and if you can keep 300fps+ you "can" use MSAA but I wouldn't really suggest it unless you get a min fps of 300. I personally don't use it.

Yo Raider, why no fxaa or MSAA?

Fxaa is just makes everything blurry (no rly that is all it does) which is terrible from trying to shoot from site to pit (dust obviously) as you can't clearly see things. MSAA is different, while it can help smooth jaggies if it takes your fps lower than the magic 300 it's just adding input lag. ie Lower fps = more input lag.

That said if you are playing on less than native res ie 1280x960 it "can" help with the jaggies (as long as your fps is still fine).

He then talks about 4:3 as the res you should choose which is wrong. I use 4:3 but not because it is better, rather I find it easier to concentrate on what I should be, rather than worrying about what's happening on the edges. The theory goes that you should already be looking in the right place anyway and that if someone shoots you from an angle not being covered you should be dead. It "can" also be useful for awpers so know the centre of their screen. I use 1440x1080 4:3 rather than a reduced pixel count so I still get the sharpness of 1080 but in a 4:3 (non stretched) form. For most people 16:9 is the best res to use.

Most of the Pro's that use 4:3 have been playing since 4:3 monitors were the main aspect ratio and that is what they are used to.

thanks for the info, i use windowed (well full screen windowed which isnt show in my settings for some reason) because i have 2 monitors and dont like closing the game down to switch screens,
i use a custom launcher for my cs that changes the res of my monitor to match the res of the in game settings
along with launch commands to play in that res in full screen boarder less windowed , at the min i get a solid 270 fps in game.
disabled fxaa now so will give it a shot thanks for the advice and thanks for taking the time to watch it

No probs, I too have a 2nd monitor but honestly bud the difference in input lag between fullscreen windowed and fullscreen is VERY noticeable. Also the difference between 2 & 4xmsaa in CSGO is most noticeable on wires / fences and when would you ever be looking at them, well you wouldn't so there is little need for 4xmsaa IMO. It can be a personal thing tho, but in general if you are noticing jaggies, you aren't concentrating on what you should be.

edit 2...http://vibrancegui.com/ use that plus brightness 1.6 fullscreen and it'll make it much easier to see things and more colourful although it can be a be OTT for people when they start using it, you get used to it.

edit 3. Nvidia CP > 3d settings > CSGO > Pre rendered frames > set to 1 (unless this kills ur fps) for minimal input lag. IIRC AMD's game profile already uses Flip/que size of 1 so you don't need to edit that.

yeah i get what you are saying about the pros that use it, but i myself find the thick ness increase of the players was a big help when i was learning the game. i used to play 1440x1080 but for some reason stuggled to find a mouse sense i was comfortable with when i changed down to 1280x960 it took about 5 attempts at tweaking the sens to find what felt right for me which is the reason i have stuck with it. like i said its all personal preference but i made the video based on what helped me when i started.
i no that the crosshair and player size is basically the same in relation when playing in 1080 but i felt like it was easier for me to focus on a bigger object on the screen in 4:3 stretched.
will give the brightness settings a go and see how i get on with them

Thanks Raider, this is really useful :).

Well yeah stretched certainly has some good sides although I really wouldn't suggest it for beginners. Get used to the game then find out what works for you (by you u, I mean them).

Also no problems Joe (Joe first name master race).

If anyone ever needs info/help just ask. I can never just play games, I have to know all the technical info etc.

How about texture filtering going upto 16x, I have that on 4x quite often. Though I have everything low, high shadows and shaders even Ive heard are best and fps should be double the screen refresh rate

The thing with CSGO is everything got standardised to stop competitive disadvantage, so all low isnt as bad as it seems as its very similar. High shaders gives the rain on Aztec, its possible more actually gives less clarity depends on personal preference. (whereas in BF2 people would turn off shadows altogether etc)
I use stretch 5:4 but I'd love 1080p if I had it perfect always.

Good vid, awesome intro  the whole public speaking thing is a big deal to get right for overall video appeal.
If you doing a series of vids, split them up I think is best for a snack size vid length to retain your viewers attentions.

Well I liked the old nuke but I don't like the new one.

I liked both. Old Nuke seemed to give advantage to an actual strat or player coordination. This one is less gloomy and hard to play but who plays cs because its easy

thanks for the input, i was going to split the vids down to be fair but it was my first time using sony vegas, been watching a few tuts since then so no a bit more than i did. i really didnt intend them to be 20 mins each.
and as for the public speaking thing... i hate my voice lol and i have "sever" (apparently) social anxiety so i was nervous as **** whilst recording hence why my brain kept going blank lol. hopefully this will pass with more videos.
not doing it to become youtube famous just want to keep my self occupied whilst im out of work for a while.
thanks for the input and watching though

Are you ill, Raider? Since when were you helpful? New outlook on life or something??!

Good to see some sort of return to form yesterday by VP. Cobble was a great map to watch, as was Mirage from Neo's POV. I still feel like Snax and Byali aren't pulling their weight in the way they used to but its great to see Taz and Neo stepping it up (and Pasha regaining some form too!).

Managed to get two clutches and an ace today :D.

[swearyvid]cool video - sadly has swearing in which is against forum rules[/swearyvid]

This doesn't happen to me often, that's for sure.

I'm still stuck on Silver Elite, feels like such an injustice!

PS sorry about the one sided audio, shadow play wasn't picking up my mic, sorted it for future videos now though.

Thats impressive to do it back to back, not just fluking a round :) Do you manage to play a regular five

SK did much better on overpass, still looks good when JW does this http://oddshot.tv/shot/esl-csgo-2016022423455709

High sens best sens http://oddshot.tv/shot/playcevo-2016021934117750

Me and my mate joined up, we are both silver elites. I haven't managed to find more players to team up with yet :). In all the games I've been in since becoming silver, it's either a good player with no mic, or someone with a mic who is annoying :). So still looking for others to team up with.

Those two videos from the pr0's are good. That double kill with the awp!

Nice :)

How did you get shadowplay to pick up your mic, it never picks mine up either.

Go to the shadow play settings, the same options where you choose to turn it on and off (has the switch on the left hand side). Along the options on the bottom you want to choose the one on the far right, the option says something like capture in game footage, click on this and you'll need to change that to in game footage and microphone.

You'll notice in the bottom right during game play that it has a microphone symbol next to the circle symbol.

I hope this helps mate, I'm not at my PC until this evening. So I can provide more detail and pictures later :)
