cyanogenMod 7.1 is out

Froyo to Gingerbread was a big leap for Android so its definitely worth upgrading to.

Although its depends on your phone - on the older phones like the G1 for example itll run pretty slow.

Hopefully not long until we get a /system dump from an ICS rom so cyanogen 8.0 dev can begin.
 
Damn that was a quick upgrade :o

Guess it's much faster as nothing is on it ;)

Only niggle in the first 5 mins of use .... Auto CM logging grrrr thankyou for using my paid AP settings - changing that straight away

Cheers. I've not really had any problems with the current ROM, which is why I've not kept up to date with other options. Just stumbled across this thread while browsing the forums.

The only issues I've had are that the phone sometimes doesn't seem to go to sleep properly and so the battery goes flat very quickly. Can't quite pin down what's causing it to do that, as most of the time it behaves properly.

Might give CM7.1 a try if I've got time to do it.

Yes, remember to put a bln kernel on it (menu and back buttons flash when you miss a call/text) and overclock to 1600 for awesome N64 performance.

Oh no !

I did a mount rw of system and moved ADW.launcher out of the way in the hope of disabling it.

Upon reboot I just get a blank screen and no default gingerbread launcher I guess I can get ADW back when I get to a PC with adb but what can I do in the meantime.... Is there a prop that I can modify

1 - Yes for prolonged periods of high intensity use, but it never gets too hot.
2 - The opposite actually during normal use. For mobile CPU's with low power states, the quicker you can do the "work" and get back to the minimum power state, the better.
3 - It will either work or not generally.

I also undervolt my phone for ridiculous battery life gains!
 
What is the difference between the stable version and the nightlies? It seems that they are constantly tweaking the rom and the usual advice if having problems is to use a more recent version. Is the stable just a snapshot of the development branch that they just relabel stable every so often or is it really more stable than a nightly for some reason? I have already seen roms that claim to be using 7.10 as a base but adding 'fixies' to it.

I recently got a sanfran as my first smartphone and have been looking into updating the rom but there are so many of them and they all seem to have problems and be full of apps and tweaks I don't want. I wish there was just a basic updated stock rom.
