Even a 3600 would be better than an 8600K.

In Multithreading an 8600K is not much different to a 7700K, its yet another BS upgrade from Intel, its a 6 core 6 thread CPU vs 4 core 8 thread of the 7700K, it doesn't have enough resources to run a game like this, this was always going to happen with CPU's like this, Toms shows a 7700K run like a bath tub full of rusty nails in this game, we are not in the 4 core + HT era, the 3600 has a higher IPC than Coffeelake and 6 cores 12 threads.
But your making it sound like my 3600 is the poor mans entry to playable gaming!
Thanks!! Switched to Nvidia recently never knew you could do this, really nice to be able to switch it on and compare in game.I find it's best to use the NVidia in-game game filter to play about with the Sharpening, just alt-z and add a game filter, you can adjust the slider dynamically and dial in on a setting that looks best for you. I went with the default 0.5 as it seems about right, anything higher and the game looks oversharpened to me.

As for the 5600X.... well that makes a 10900K look midrange.
On a i58600k with a 3090 at 1440p and the CPU just can't deal with it, setting changes have no impact. At this stage im not sure if its the game or a real bottleneck.
really? my 8600k has been fine
60-70fps ultra everything at 1440p with a 6800
not even had any hitching or laggyness or noticable framedrops, seems fine to me?
RIP 9700k and 8600k
check out GN Steve's CPU bench which highlights some 1% low issues with such CPUs. I tested modified exe since a few days on this 5800X and doesn't seem too different tbh.
I take it a 2700X will still do alright in this game when paired when a 3090 @ 4K?
Don’t really want to upgrade that until the next gen Ryzen unless it’s completely unavoidable.
It’s why I opted for the 8 core 16 threads in the first place, a bit of longevity.

Tried 1000, but it started falling apart, it wasn't loading in textures at all in some cases but in others it was taking 1-2 minutes. The CPU was also getting murdered but it wasn't totally maxed out. Weirdly it started reloading stuff too, even though I had plenty of vram to spare - it was at 9.5 GB out of 16.[Streaming]
MinStreamingDistance = 600.000000
it was 1.0
probably going about it wrong I think there is a cap on rendered details, will play with it some more.
screenshot were taken at different times but notice the 2 pipes beside the fans.
