Cyberpunk 2077 Ultra performance

Enabled. Should I turn it off?

It is about the only way to get ~60 FPS currently with ultra or higher settings.

You "should" be getting way better than 20-30s kind of framerates with higher settings + RT with DLSS on with a 3070 but there seems to be all kinds of issues with the game and hardware utilisation currently.

What CPU are you using?

Ok. Could the rest of my system just be a massive bottleneck too?

Intel i7-5820K 3.30GHz @ 4 Ghz
Asus X99-Pro Intel X99
Avexir 16 GB Ram
Run capframex or afterburner and pay attention to all temps, clocks, utilisation etc I'll show you mine tomorrow. I have a 6800k at 4ghz which is basically same as that 5820k and getting 60 fps fine, but this is with an amd 6800 gpu.

I was joking, i see a lot of people saying that they can't see a difference when RT is used in games so i used the worst example.

Quake 2 really doesn't show off the strength of the path tracer used though - they should have got one of the designers to rework base1 using the full strengths of the tech to show it off.

Going to put the game aside for now, playing with drops down to 40fps is making me feel a bit sick, even with 100 fov

Ok I feel almost embarrassed to say this but this whole situation did not sit well with me so I did some more investigation regarding my system. It just did not make any sense to me that the game would run THIS badly.

To make it worse when I started as Street Kid the FPS in the bar were below 20 at times and even when I said it to Low it was 30 at best.

Then I remembered that when I took out my 980Ti, I put the 3070 into a different PCIE slot... not the first one but one of the other ones. Based on a hunch I checked my manual and boom that slot is a PCIE 2.0 slot and not a 3.0.

I just put the card into one of the PCIE 3.0 slots and voila that same bar area now runs at around 50 FPS on Ultra!! What the hell

Ooof not the game then in this case - was a bit surprised by the numbers you were talking with a 3070 but I know it is running that badly for some.

Yea it was kind of last resort thinking. Only reason I did not put the new card into that first pcie slot that the 980ti was in is because the damn lever thing that locks the card into place snapped off when I took the 980ti out

I'm still playing 4k max settings ultra ray tracing and quality dlss.

Vsync at 30.

The game looks and plays surprisingly well locked at 30fps. Using gsync so there isn't any input lag.

Really enjoying the ray tracing and HDR on this.

I did try getting frame rate up to 60fps but it was too up and down and quality dropped quite a lot.

Im using the Digital Foundry recommended settings, getting a steady 75fps now all the time. 3080 + 5900x.

Hopefully they'll fix AMD cpu performance as well for a bit more of a boost.

Visually its almost impossible to tell the difference between the default Ultra / Psycho settings and these DF settings unless you stand still and really look.

Happy with the trade off for a much more fluid gaming experience

Thanks mate. Are you running at 3440x1440 too?
I play at around 80% of 4K, but glad to see you resolved the issue. Anyway, this is how I set-up capframex, still useful for the future:

I also have added a trigger value for CPU usage & temps so that they go from blue-ish to bright red if they hit a certain threshold. It's really useful in order to see when the games really hit the components hard and utilise them properly, or for temps when things go awry.

edit: uploaded another pic but colours are a bit messed up, had hdr on

Ive tried the Ryzen hack but it made no difference, still really good.

I have a Ryzen 5600x and a 3080 and this game plays really well on RT ultra DLSS auto. 55-75FPS

Ive never taken so many screenshots. My eyeballs cant believe what they are seeing.

Who says this game looks rough, no way. The best looking game ever by far.

Who says this game looks rough, no way.

People with weak systems, or underpowered consoles from 2013, but that's to be expected. There are limits to the miracles game developers can perform, even if Joe Public doesn't want to acknowledge it.
