D&D 5e, starting a game soon, any DM's have tips?

So, the players, based on who emailed through trust (and in order):

Pudney
Greenja (x2)
Lordhughes
Gradyhawks
Nodiggidy123

And that's the game full.

Everyone should have received the link to the game on Roll20. Once you're all linked into the game, then I'll send out a group email for us to sort out characters (we'll just use pregens, to keep it simple).

Have a look around it - it's a great resource. You'll be able to view your character sheet, make rolls, see maps and control your character.

EDIT: Or a paladin! Or a Cleric! Or a Warlock! Something with some magical prowess!

EDIT: On the note of characters, will we know them before we play at all?

I'll list the six pregens, and people can put their preferences up and we'll sort it out from there. I know this is only a one-off, but I think that's a great chance for people to play something they've never played before, or a character outside of their comfort zone - a real test of your RP skills.

The characters (unnamed):
Tiefling Bard
Human Cleric
Dwarf Fighter
Dragonborn Paladin
Halfling Rogue
Elf Wizard

Please put your first and second choices in a post, and we'll take it from there - no guarantee that any unwanted classes won't end up just being allocated randomly.
 
1) Teifling Bard :D - I love bards in my games when I DM, be good to play one. Plus, my last poem won me a Roccat headset in the comp!
2) Dragonborn Paladin - Love me "the good guy" all noble like.

I can RP any of them though if needed.

When I used to DMi always gave bonuses on rolls for people who role played the best or suggested outrageous stunts. Had a Mage once confronted by a vampire who just came out with (obviously this is verbatim of an old conversation years ago)

"We see each other across the room and pause, facing off western style I finger my wand, he eyes me cautiously. He goes to make his move but before he does I draw my wand and put a magic missile straight between his eyes killing him dead. I'm hit by a puff of dust as that's all that's left of him."

I made him roll a load of dice but I had already decided he had succeeded :p for the rest of the campaign his nickname was "quickest wand in the west" :D
