D800 vs D800E?

Thanks for the feedback mate, puts my mind at rest. In regards to the eyecup though, I thought that one wasn't that hot for glasses wearers, which I'm part of due to being short sighted? How much am I looking at for each of these btw? I've never heard of the magnifier before.

No worries.

If you're wearing glasses then you probably wouldn't find it so useful as you need to have your eye right against it to get the benefits. Wearing glasses also means you don't need to create the extra distance that makes it more comfortable to use. It was only about 40 for them both together.

Looks like the jessops deal ends tonight -.-

Sounds like an amazing deal...sickeningly good compared to what I paid at release. I ended up going with Jacobs purely because they got one in before my other pre-order came through. If it is possible and you have a John Lewis near you then I'd recommend going with them. They will price match any high street shop and have the best returns policy known to man. I'd rather have bought it there simply for the return policy. They happily took my D700 back after about a month's heavy use with no questions asked. I believe you can return anything at any point provided it is in good condition.

I really liked jacobs (its where I bought my 5D mk ii from) and its a shame its closed. Theres some ND4 filters on ebay going very cheap (£9 each) from jacobs stock due to it closing down. Sadly theres no John Lewis in Hull and the closest is supposedly Sheffield according to their website :(

I'll most likely pop into jessops in Hull and try and haggle that discount back onto the sale as I need some other bits and bobs anyway so it would make sense for them to help me out to get the sale!

I've been wanting to ask, but feared being labelled an idiot.. why is the D800e more expensive when it is the same as the D800, but *without* the AA filter? Surely having something taken out of the camera should be cheaper?!

For some odd reason though Hull isn't popping up on the list of stores I can actually collect it at. Keeps popping up with york as the closest lol -.-

It s not actually fully missing though, normally there is a vertical and horizontal AA filter. In te e version one f the AA liters is rotated to counteract the effect of the first.

The difference is the pruction cost for creating a limited quntity body.

Considering an immanent purchase of an expensive form of carbon within a circular metal alloy, my d800 plans have been pushed back a few more month. Furthermore the difference between the e and non e will be put into a diamond upgrade.

Congrats and unlucky at the same time!

I've been watching the D800 prices fall continuously throughout this week, but now its a matter of when I pull the trigger one one before they go back up. £2083 is the lowest price for UK stock at the moment and the D800E via ******* has risen by £180, making it £2390 and not as an attractive purchase for me.

Just go for it, there's less than 3 months to the worlds end now anyway! (If you keep telling yourself that, you'll believe it enough to justify any purchase!) :D

Haha, you should take your own advice and go camera crazy also :P

I'm tempted to sell the 7D, 1Ds2 and X100 to buy a 5D3 now... but come the apocalypse I reckon the 1Ds2 will be more useful as heavy weapon! :D

Ha, I'd probably keep the X100 and sell the other two for the 5D mk iii as its faaaar easier to walk around with, as you already know lol. I've still not sold my D300s yet but I'm in absolutely no rush as I'll just keep it as a second body otherwise :D
