Dalglish resigned/sacked?

I was going to ask a serious question who doesn't have him on ignore by now ? My finger got fed upon scrolling down on my iPad from his wall text :p

DM gets a lot of negativity mainly because of the length of his posts, sometimes I think people instantly dismiss his points without even reading them properly.

I personally think that Ottmar Hitzfeld should take over. Was one of the guys in the running when Houlier was sacked, and I think he'd do a good job. Can't see that happening though.

Capello would get results, he has wherever he has gone with club management, maybe not in the most eye catching way but results none the less. Obviously it didn't work out great with England but if you look at the team, on paper he got as far in tournaments as would be expected. Capello is a top manager one of the greatest of all time, but what happened with England will end up with a lot of people dismissing him in this country.

Interesting reading: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18097439

Apparently AVB is unlikely to get the job, nor is Benitez thought to be in the running. Martinez is again mentioned as impressing FSG. Meetings with Cruyff and Begiristain for Director of Football.

Edit: In contrast, most of Twitter is now commenting that bets on AVB being manager have now been suspended and he is the favourite.

Can anyone confirm if Steve Clarke has actually left the club? No official confirmation on the clubs website and SSN say sources claim he hasn't left.

Obviously he is nowhere near getting the job, but I am getting a bit worried that I keep seeing Gus's name crop up whenever a team is looking for a new manager. Happened with quite a few this season, and he seems to be creeping higher up the lists.

His odds shortening and even bets being suspended is simply down to a lot of people piling money on him when he was 10/1 after a few people mentioned that the club are keen/have contacted him.

There's nothing official but it would appear as if he's offered his resignation at the very least. I'd be shocked if one way or another he doesn't leave in the very near future.

That was my understanding. A resignation from him but no word of acceptance by FSG. Steve Clarke and AVB would be a strong management set up.

I'm going for the moderate football view, YERRRRRRPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!! Second most deserved sacking on the premier league (behind McLiesh) but NO ONE can get away with such a terrible season, with the highlight of the first team dominating the league cup, till the final against Cardiff :D

There is a god and they do listen to me (after Mick getting sacked annoying me so much)

Also on those odds stevie G seems the best option for next manager too...

This isn't good from an Arsenal p.o.v, Liverpool needed a clean out and if they choose the right manager and change the squad in the summer they will probably be another team to compete with. Not easy to get it all right though, a lot of pressure but I think they have made the right decision to start with, could quite easily go spectacularly wrong from here though

With their current squad Liverpool won't even be a factor next season for the Champions League contenders. It looks average as you like apart from Reina and Suarez when he can be bothered.

Two big questions are 1- how much are the Liverpool board going to back this new manager financially and 2- if it's not as much as they did Dalglish over his 18 months what exactly are the expectations of this new manager?

I can understand why they sacked Dalglish but would lets say AVB be able to get any more out of this current Squad than Dalglish did? Personally I think it's unlikely so in 12 months time are they just going to sack this next manager and bring someone else in if the league position doesn't improve?

Like I say I can see why they wouldn't be happy with maybe some of Dalglish's buys and thus don't trust him to oversee another transfer window but it's going to take some serious investment to improve the areas Liverpool need improving (across midfield and at least 1 striker) and if all the new manager gets is say 20m then they're bascially going to have to work with what they've got already as 20m will get you about 1 good player these days.

Long story short I don't think Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea really need to worry about Liverpool in the near future.... Unless of course they get some kind of miracle worker in who almost guarantees success wherever he goes (im sure you know who I'm on about)

I've said previously that I don't think we need a lot of work to be able to compete for a top 4 stop. We've shown in patches that we're more than capable of matching these sides, we've just lacked the consistency which imo is mainly down to the depth of our squad. We've not had a great deal of injuries this season but the injuries we have had have been to key players (and for long periods) and we've not been able to cope without them.

If we could add a quality wide/creative midfielder, competition up front and decent cover for Lucas, we'll be a lot closer next season than we were this season. Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez is far from a bad platform.

I read an interesting stat (not sure if true) that Lucas has made the most tackles for Liverpool this season and hasn't played for 6 months.

@Baz How much would those players cost though? Assuming you get just one decent wide player you're probably looking at 15-20m there (based on how much Downing and Young cost), probably between 10-17m for a central midfielder (based on the fees banded around for the likes of Dembele and M'Vila) and then another 20m for a half decent striker (unless you can snap up someone like a Jelavic)

It all depends on how much money there is to spend. Dempsey on paper looks like he could be a good fit and fill multiple different positions but he wouldn't be the first good PL player to go to Liverpool and fail to deliver the form he did for his previous club

It wouldn't surprise me if it was true.

It all depends on how well and how you spend. If you're going after 3 proven, top class (or near enough) players then you'll be looking at £40-50m. If you take calculated gambles on younger/unproven players and it comes off, it may only cost you £20m.

As for Dempsey, unless he's very cheap I can't see us going near him. As has been reported, I think you'll see that we'll be looking at younger players.
I've not got a clue as they're not my club.
I was going to ask squerble why he wanted to know a Man Utd fans opinion. You lot all thought Hodgson was doing a good job ;)
