Dalglish resigned/sacked?

Cant believe Purslow on the radio this morning saying Rafa should be Nr1 choice when it was him (amongst others, but he had a big part to play) who forced him out in the first place.

Whats changed?

Rafa wasn't sacked due to footballing reasons and I still think he's the best man for the job and probably would fit with the view of using young players to build a squad for the future.

Seeing Rafa on SSN this morning did give a warm glow.

As said it wasn't football reasons he left, wouldn't be heart broke if he came back.

Attempted tackles, not completed iirc

Not sure on that, he had around 50 odd completed I think when he got injured, the highest in the league finished around 110 or so this year I think? He had an incredible amount of 50-50 wins and the % to go along with it.

Best DM in the league, that said, he wasn't going to make us finish fourth or close to it but boy is he good.

I was happy and indeed very surprised at how he turned out, as in all fairness he was pretty dire for the first three seasons. Here's also hoping that he comes back from his injury as the same player too, as god knows we're gonna need him.

He just wasn't Alonso at the time, nor Mascherano, nor is he now, he is his own brilliant player and faced a lot of criticism from fans mainly due to frustration of us not winning the league that year, in 09/10 he began to change fans tune, certainly mine despite the own goal I raged at vs Villa :p.

Blind defence? I've been over it many a time before why he was/is great? Every manager has fallouts with players, how many has Ferguson binned over the years who were great players he fell out with?

And some good? He had the second highest win % of any Liverpool manager post war did he not? I'll not bother going on, there was a reason other teams didn't like Rafa and liked Hodgson being our manager, Kenny also now.

Also the day Rafa was sacked was the day the club continued to sprint backwards, getting in new owners was a step in the right direction, but then the way the money has been spent we might aswell have had 20m to spend

Yes the stats are good and he was great for us for awhile but whilst we can use excuse of his poor reltionship with the owners his last season was bad, Dont get me wrong as ive said if he was to return id back him like any other manager BUT we should NOT go to old managers we need new fresh ideas and some one who can build there team no directer of football either.

Anyway i see we seem to be linked heavily with AVB/Martinez dont know who id rather have if we do get either of them.

KD had to go and has but i hope the new manager is chosen soon and we can build and get rid of some of the older players

Sorry, my point was that we'll need him back in and on form from the off, as well as some of our more recent and costlier signings. As despite us signing the £25 mil a year shirt deal last year (the second biggest sponsorship deal in the history of the game) and the likes (£20m a year from Standard Chartered etc), the new manager will likely not be getting a big war chest to go dipping into the transfer market with.

One bad season under the previous ownership and you want him shipped out? The difference between him and Kenny is he didn't have 120 mil to blow in 6 months and **** up, never mind Kenny's complete mismanagement of his signings. (Downing played all the time when probably could have done with being dropped, Henderson played RM and Andy dropped every time he scored a goal...). Nor was he battling owners. Granted he did have the whole Suarez/evra incident. The season was an embaressment from top to bottom, bar the cup win.

Ayre has told reporters that Clarke is still at the club. I'm not sure if that actually means anything though. If he has offered his resignation then I'd imagine he'll be off one way or another, possible after a new manager has been appointed.

And I've just listened to what Cecil said on the radio this morning. What a ****.

No i wanted him out for his miss blatent mis treatment of players actually, Im not even disputing the differences so whats KD and this season got to do with it?

I agree with you entirely on what you have said about KD, All i was saying is that you seem to not even be able to criticse Rafa anyway im not arquing with you as most the time we seem to agree lol

Who do you want for us next if its not Rafa?

Why was he sacked, if it wasn't footballing reasons?

In short it was felt by Broughton and Purslow that if they had a more friendly face (read: yes man) it would make it easier to sell the club.

Rafa was the one that lifted the lid on the problems behind the scenes with the debt etc.

Capello would get results, he has wherever he has gone with club management, maybe not in the most eye catching way but results none the less. Obviously it didn't work out great with England but if you look at the team, on paper he got as far in tournaments as would be expected. Capello is a top manager one of the greatest of all time, but what happened with England will end up with a lot of people dismissing him in this country.

Best win record of any England manager.
