Dalglish resigned/sacked?

If I were Martinez I'd stay at Wigan it's not often you get a chairman who will back you like theirs has done, Martinez probably wouldn't even be a contender for Liverpool if he'd been sacked by Wigan with 10 games to go, which most other clubs would have done given their league position.

If he goes to Liverpool he'll probably be sacked within two years, with their squad at the moment it's a bit like being promoted to captain of the Titanic after they'd hit the iceberg. :p

come on martinez, you can do it

i assume the FSG boardroom went something like ''ok, we've got rid of dalglish'' met with ''great! who have you got lined up as a replacement, as next season starts in 10 weeks'' met with ''errrr''

Lol i love how yet again liverpool supporters get thrown into the "all" catagory not every one is agaisnt Martinez granted seems most are.

Long as any yong manager Martinez included shows he has good creditentials they should be included in short lists for higher jobs or they wont ever improve untill bigger clubs give them a chance if Martinez does come to us he needs full support of all our supporters.

Besides i highly doubt our owners will only interview him or that is rather stupid, EDIT: I will say i think we should aim higher than Martinez personally e.g. AVB,Hiddick etc but i dont think were i nthe position to attract them unless FSG will pay the manager over the odds too

Can imagine it just turning into Hodgson part 2 with Martinez, the fans being against him from the start as they want someone 'bigger' soon as the results start going wrong it'll be all "we want Rafa/AVB/Guardiola/Mourinho" and he'll be getting the sack.

Big opportunity for Martinez to move to the next level and take on a greater challenge but depends if the owners will back him all the way with funding considering Kenny spurged £100 mill on mostly overpriced English rubbish!

They've already said he'll have a £30m transfer kitty from the off, and I assume he can add to that by selling...

I wouldn't be against Martinez. He got Swansea playing excellent football and he's managed to transfer that over to Wigan despite having limited funds and an awful team.

Having said that, with the likes of AVB, Cappello and Benitez all unemployed Martinez shouldn't even be considered unless they all turned us down.

You're look at a small minority for the underlined part.

I gave Hodgson a chance when he first came, in fact I didn't really get too worried, then I saw the football, his compete disregard for the fans and his purchases, there was a reason he was disliked, and that is because he was a completely rubbish and a bell end at the same time managing us. I remember him not evening defending Nando when Ferguson called him a diving cheat, can't imagine any other LFC manager, or other manager at all for the matter letting someone trash talk their players.

If it is Martinez, I won't be happy, but I'll back him like I did Hodgson and wish him all the best and would be chuffed to bits if it worked out, but going from 8 good results at Wigan to managing LFC, whole different ball game.

I can imagine that too but I can also imagine him actually getting things a bit more ship shape overall and some of the "overpriced English rubbish" actually putting a good stint in under him.

Frankly, at this time, I'd take the boot cleaner if he can motivate people.

FSG must be hoping Martinez can pull off yet another miracle next season and keep Liverpool up.

Wouldn't be a wise move for Martinez to go to Liverpool. I think he is going to be a top manager but if it doesn't work out he will be vilified by the Liverpool fans, whom come August go into the new season with expectations of top four, some delusional fans even think it going to be 'their year'.

The fact is their squad is nowhere near top four dispite spending big money. Fighting it out with Everton like they did this year is about par for the squad they have. If Martinez was given time (2 yrs minimum) and funds to turn thing around he could do it. But if they are sitting 6th or 7th come January he would probably be kicked out the door.

Well considering had balls at Wigan not to play 10 men behind the ball all the time considering anyone can do it against even the best of teams and scrape a result was impressive.

If he comes in, keeps Carragher dropped I'll instantly be infinitely more happy than I was with Hodgson who didn't seem to rate Agger who rightfully called us **** under him.

Wouldn't mind martinez. I like the football wigan play and sawnsea when he was incharge. But its all down to the squad. Do liverpool have the players to play that way? What about the flops this year, can they have another year like that?

.

yep, you may score than blackburn this season and win more home games than them too :)

A massive issue we have this year is, giving the ball to Enrique too much who SLOWS IT DOWN SO MUCH IM USING CAPS, then Downing who was rubbish and we just completely over loaded the left wing, probably due to Kenny playing Henderson on the right most of the time, I think we'd score more goals as we'd make more chances (maybe another 10 shots a game so maybe a home goal if lucky.) with a more balanced play.

Also if he plays Gerrard CM I'll instantly give up on our midfield in any game that isn't big.

It was a wind up and a poor one at that.

Would Liverpool fans really want Capello? Think he's a bit archaic really.

Personally I don't, but he was the best manager England have had in a long time and was unsurprisingly pushed out by our xenophobic media and the FA giving in to their demands, great manager, but we're in a **** country for foreign managers. (See the treatment of Mancini,AVB,Ancelotti compared to Hodgson,Harry,Hughes maybe? when results go/went bad.)
