Dalglish resigned/sacked?

General opinion on Twitter is that it's a good move for Jen Chang as Director of Comms? Never heard of him.

He's the football editor of Sports Illustrated and he blocked me on twitter 18 months ago after a difference of opinions on whether Suarez was signing. I would like to point out that I was right.

Any particular reason? He has managed Swansea to finishing well above most reasonable expectations.
Two reasons really. He appears to have been given all the credit for the way Swansea play football when it was Martinez that got them playing that way years ago and secondly one season in the Premiership isn't anywhere near enough experience to manage one of Europes biggest clubs. European experience, preferably a European winner, is a must imo.

Twitter going absolutely nuts now. Jen Chang as DOC and Txiki Begiristain as DOF. Seems Martinez may fit in with those plans?

Jen Chang's appointment won't have any link to the DoF or Manager, he's just a PR guy. If Begiristain has got the DoF job (and if it is him, I suspect he has already been appointed but not announced) then of course there's the Spanish (and Catalan?) link. I'd rather have Guardiola though, who appointed him at Barca and what's he doing with his time now? ;)

These DOC & DOF etc..positions are just mythical.
Every time a manager who's been managing a club long term and deserves some respect (like Wenger) or is managing and has been a legend on the pitch (like Dalglish) loses his job these positions get mentioned and to my knowledge no club who are worth their salts have had one.
No-one ever 'goes upstairs', it's just paper talk.

If you think Andy Carroll was a waste of money, just wait until he swaps him + £30m for Ibrahimovic and then sells him for £20m a year later

Ok, that's one assuming it's a fact, I'll take your word fir it.
But that may be exception that proves the rule, it don't happen often.

To be fair, a lot of clubs in Europe have similar structures (with varying levels of control) to the DoF/Head Coach set-up.

And iinm, Begiristain's actual title at Barca was "technical director".

I'm not really talking about continental sides, just PL ones.
Any other position other than manager doesn't exist and no manager who's been either ousted or left his post ever fills this fabled, elevated role yet the media repeatedly speculate that the outgoing manager might go upstairs and oversee off pitch affairs. It's just BS :)

It would appear as if a Director of Football/Technical Director position at Liverpool does or will exist. Agree with what you say about sacked managers moving upstairs being BS though, however there's no talk about Dalglish moving into any Director type role. In an ideal world he'd go back to his academy/ambassador role but it's too soon for that now.
