Dalglish resigned/sacked?

I'm happy for the board to do this... But please give them time. We need a transition period longer than August to the end of December when someone panics.

Apparantly Swansea City have granted Liverpool permission to hold talks with manager Brendan Rodgers. Also, at Rodgers’ request, he had a compensation clause of around £5m inserted into his contract in case he quit for another job

I will start this comment with lolgoal.com

They are, however, reporting that Martinez has pulled out due to not wanting to work under 3 directors.

The BBC are reporting that it's just a matter of agreeing a compo deal with Swansea and that Rodgers will be confirmed as manager within 48 hours.

Whoever gets the job, the chances of them working under Louis van Gaal appear to be slim. The Daily Telegraph says there has been a "cooling of interest" in the veteran coach.

"[His] chances of an Anfield role have receded significantly as FSG have continued their structural review. It was swiftly established Roberto Martinez and Rodgers would refuse to work under Van Gaal if he was sporting director. The Dutchman's dictatorial reputation and determination to impose his own imprint on how the club is run would make it impossible for a young manager to assert his influence.

Wouldn't mind a good Antrim man at the helm after Pigeon pointing out that thread on RAWK, certainly prefer him over Martinez.

Didn't know much about Rodgers until today, a lot of very interesting articles and videos floating around. Seems like a decent bloke with his head screwed on.

Edit: What's gonna happen with Sigurddson. Was he a done deal?

Didn't hear it myself but supposedly the guy breaking the story for the BBC said on 5Live that there will be no Director of Football working with Rodgers. I'm not sure if that literally means that or includes the sporting/technical director positions too (the club confirmed that there wouldn't be a DoF sometime ago but that the role would be split into 2 smaller jobs).

I would suggest looking into his reign at Reading, taking a play off side to the bottom of the table due to his inability to change tactics. He's a one trick pony who plays a certain way, and will not change that no matter how results go, and Liverpool do not currently play that way, nor do they have the players capable of playing that way.

If he goes to Liverpool I wouldn't be surprised to see him sacked by Christmas, nevermind lasting a season.

Brendan Rodgers birthday is on the 26th January (and his son Anton is on the same date). This is also my birthday so that is good enough for me - sign him up.

:D
