Dalglish resigned/sacked?

How the hell is he going to get Carragher to stop hoooofing the ball! ;)

I think it could be a good appointment given the time, but sadly with the finances available I don't think it's going to make that much of a difference to the chances of breaking into the top 4 or regularly qualifying for the champions league.

Why what finance is available?

Sweet

But lmao at that Rogers is a better manager than Martniez, erm what has he done?

Also Jewell managed Wigan first season in EPL 10th 51 points > Rogers 11th with 47 points

This Jewell is better than Rogers

Is that official or made up from journalists?

Probably made up.

Official statement from Swansea.

"I had a discussion with Brendan to talk about their interest and his views on whether he wanted to speak to Liverpool.

"He expressed his wish with me to do that and he has spoken to Liverpool today.

"Following on from discussions with Liverpool's owners, Brendan has informed us that he would like to take up their offer to manage Liverpool.

Guess that is it pretty much official now.

Interesting read on the Rafa getting sacked by the yank ***** and Roy being put in charge threads on here when i wasn't a member, still makes me irrationally angry he was given the boot.

A fair few people called exactly what would happen back then to the club really, and others with some hilarious predictions like someone said we should sell Gerrard/Torres and let Roy buy lots of 5million pound players to rebuild and would get the best out of Babel. Turned out Babel was still **** and he bought Poulsen and Koncheskey.

I think its a very good appointment 'IF' there is a plan to recruit a good DOF, and i am hearing that there is.

So, really pleased at the moment.:D

Undecided on this personally. He's got a lot of potential as a manager, and despite his Reading spell is generally well thought of. He's done nothing so far to show that he can do the Liverpool job though. We need somebody who can rebuild a team.

I thought his style of play at Swansea was exactly what we were after? Lots of posession and press high up the pitch.

By picking Agger instead :)

Given it some thought over the past day or so and I don't think this is that bad a move by Liverpool, his time spent in Europe means he will probably be onboard with the DOF approach and can get them back to the "pass and move it's the Liverpool groove" days. I do wonder what this means for Andy Carroll though, I saw him berating the likes of Johnson this season for not hitting him early.

Im abit gutted as a spurs fan, i wanted redknapp to **** off to england job and for spurs to appoint someone like Rodgers.

I think if they back him properly (which i doubt) he will do well. But liverpool need a total overhaul.

Please fully star out all swearing in future. Thank you.

I find it laughable he was suspended for that as a first offence where a popular member of the forum did the same in the f1 thread at the weekend I rtm the post purely out of curiousity, nothing. A long standing popular member who knows better, nothing.

At least try to be consistent.

Yeah it is pretty annoying seeing someone new making a mistake where as plenty of members get away with it each week, should be the other way around, same thing with links with swear words, some forums don't seem to mind, others do.

Not enough, obviously.

Hows that? We spent quite a bit last summer and had more apparently if it was required but Kenny told the owners he had what he wanted? Throwing more money at more **** will never be enough.

Yep I've seen dons do it and screenshot it out of curiousity when I rtm'd the post of a don. Nothing, above the rules. I don't mind the rules, they are fine and dandy with me, I've always hated non consistent application of rules and those that think they are above them when they are in the in crowd.

Anyway back to the topic in hand....

I'm not sure the new manager will get anything like Jenny spent last year. Time will tell as I said :)

I'm split down the middle.

He is/was the best manager we've had. Only missing out on 10th on results count back is impressive given our budget and squad depth. (almost none).

However, my disappointment stems from the fact he went from signing a new deal and saying "I will honour my contract".. "I am committed", and then leaving at the first chance. Basically the Martinez debacle all over again.

After all, Rodgers has spoken of his spell at Reading and how he felt it was too much too soon, and now does this? In my opinion it is career suicide at this point. Liverpool need 18 months and a budget restructure but the reality is he will get until the end of the January transfer window to prove himself.

If he isn't sitting in the top 6 by then, he'll be down Burger king flipping burgers.

I wish him all the best, but if he rapes the squad for the better players I will rage

I really can't see this being the case. Providing there are signs that progress is being made and that he's building towards something, he'll be given time by the supporters and certainly by the owners.

Judging by what's been reported over the last couple of days it would appear as if the chances of van Gaal being appointed as some sort of sporting/technical director have diminished. I'm not sure whether that's because Rodgers has reservations over working with him or more to do with worries about LvG historically being difficult to work with and with the rumour about him wanting to be considered for the managers job, that would have only increased the likelihood of a fallout.

Reportedly the club still want to press ahead with their tiered management structure and this extract from a piece in the Telegraph probably sums up what they want to do best:
Liverpool have been reviewing how to restructure the club, redefining scouting and technical roles, although there is a feeling much of this shake-up is being over-analysed amid a plethora of lavish titles.
Essentially, the club will be appointing a glorified chief scout, an experienced administrator to negotiate transfers and contracts and a figurehead to ensure a seamless transition between the youth and senior set-ups.

It's widely believed that Pep Segura will be promoted to take on the "figurehead to ensure a seamless transition between the youth and senior set-ups" role and that Ayre will take on the transfer/contract negotiator role. With van Gaal appearing to be out of the running for the "glorified chief scout" role, it will be interesting to see who they bring in.
