Daredevil Remi Lucidi dies after fall from 68th floor for Instagram stunt

Glad i don't live there then. if i'm up 68 floors and see someone outside the window i'm going to be curious rather than thinking, holy crap, spiderman is actually a crook!

What is more logical when seeing someone outside your window up high?

A thief or someone doing it for social media cred.

Not in your shoes, but someone who isn't into social media.

I bet you, 99.99999% of people on planet earth don't think hanging outside of a skyscrapper is a hobby.

i wouldn't automatically think it was some social media cred thing either. i'd be wondering what the **** they were doing, i'd not be scared or concerend about them being a thief, 68 floors up, outside the window. seeing as the likelihood of a thief being outside my window, 68 floors up, is going to be rather unlikely i'd imagine. unless there's a history of folk scaling crazy heights to break in to flats in HK i'm not aware of :p

I never follow these people on social media and I think sharing videos of them is immoral because it encourages them to take risks that have a high likelihood of ending like this.

It's not about being horrible, it's about being safe in your home. That's the mindset, I am telling you. Sure, with hindsight, sat down after the fact and thought about it after, and especially when the news reported who he is, but in the moment, that is what you think...some thief...illogical? of course, but no more illogical as thinking someone would go outside at the 68th floor for social media cred.

Of anyone here, who else can say they are born or even lived in a flat in HK?
I mean what you described to me was a bunch of horrible people with zero ability to reflect and are scared of everything without context, sounds like a bunch of horrible idiots to me.

The likelihood of someone being a thief is unlikely, even less likely is someone doing it as a hobby....I imagine.

So the instinct, we are talking about instinct here, and with some background of actually living there, is to assume the worse, first...the instinct. But obviously by the time they figured out, it was already too late.

doesn't make sense dude - you've just said the likelihood of being a thief is unlikely.......then revert to claiming most HK folk would assume the worse, first instinct (it's a thief) I just don't understand that logic. my first instinct wouldn't be 'omg thief'.....upon seeing some eejit hanging off my window i'm not going to be thinking they're the worlds most determined thief, likewise i'm not going to be thinking 'ach it's just another one of them tiktok folk doing their thing'
i am going to be hella curious as to what the holy **** they are actually doing.

p.s. i'm not having a go at you, i just don't get how someone would immediately panic and think they were about to be broken into by a french spiderman.

With hindsight, neither is unlikely, being a thief that high up, or doing that as a hobby. But given the choice, if you ask someone which is more likely, they wouldn't pick the hobby.

At least...Mission Impossible shows people do hang off outside buildings to break in...there is that, even if its fake.

Also, the guy is French, so the resident might not be able to communicate anyway, even in English.

i'm not asking anyone which is more likely - i'm just stating that me personally i wouldn't immediately think 'stop thief' - whereas you claim everyone who lives in HK would. i just find that a weird first thought to have, at 68 floors up in the air. i imagine i'd be very shocked and curious but worried about them being a thief would be way down my list of 'wtf is this fella up to' concerns.

This is silly Raymond, you're not able to speak for everyone in HK and regardless a dumb mentality is still dumb and open to criticism even if we are to believe it is shared by an entire city.

There's not much justification for not helping someone clearly in distress and whose life is in danger (even if they actually were a burglar who'd screwed up during their attempt).

Obviously, this guy is primarily to blame for his situation but the cleaner was also being rather cruel or was just plain stupid.

I've just been watching more Alex Honnold Videos funnily enough but it's difficult to draw much comparison. The is a guy who has lived and breathed climbing, spent years studying routes and using visualisation to achieve his goals etc. and not some guy after clicks/likes.

Free Solo is a must watch.

If we have just let a person in our flat through the window, 64 floors up and he wants to rob us, I am pretty sure most people would have no issues in restraining them as they'll be absolutely cooked.

Yeah the motive for him was always the love of climbing, not to seek out fame or clicks.
