Looks like a prequel to me. Lots of fire (and it doesn't fit with FromSofts style to make it so 1 ending in DkS was correct) and with so many Dragons/Drakes a prequel seems very likely.
It also seems to me like there are going to be a lot of cheap deaths rather than deaths that were your fault.

The deaths part, couldn't agree more... The chariot bit. Clear as anything. There was a gap to the left. The bridge, Shoot an arrow at the wyvern or what ever. As soon as you work it out, it's not hard or an issue.
Dark Souls doesn't have this, apart from traps, but they are just that, traps. Fall down a drain in The Depths, you have the frogs to deal with. Enough skill, move on.
Hmmm, skeptical. But I will be getting it, that's for sure.

There are a few cheap deaths to be had to be fair. The silver knight archers in Anor Londo are a ****ing joke if you don't know what you're doing
. I've also lost 200k souls before because a Black Knight OHKO'd me in mid air as I was dropping into the area he's in which was bull.
New trailer + the gameplay footage has increased my hopefulness at a 2013 release

Catacombs? He's definitely a pain if you're not ready for him. I went through there earlier today. A quick riposte and a +15 Great Scythe through his chest and all was good again
