Dark Souls 2 - Thread

DLC went live 7am this morning backup your saves its super tough lots of prepare to die moments  which even for From Software some are a bit extreme not for casual players at all :(

That last boss - what in the actual ****.
That has got to be the hardest thing in DS since O+S.

Had to do it with 2 others in the end and even that take a lot of tries. I thought I had him nailed on solo but then he rages and lands of whole world of hurt!!

Great DLC , much better than the first instalment. Need to do Sir Alonne now once I figure out where to go...

Just completed. About the same length as DLC1 still worth buying if you like Dark Souls 2 this is more of the same & perhaps 6 hours worth of content + the final boss which is just insane

Last boss is a real nightmare so tough  make sure you backup your save before the last battle otherwise prepare to lose & lose x 999 times its so unfair you get no time to use anything or recover

What would be the purpose of backing up a save? While typing this i have assumed its so as not to waste effigies and items etc?

Or something else?

Ive only got to 2nd bonfire so far diablo 3 is stealing my time!!

Because you die so often & some of it is so unfair you can get killed instantly in DLC2 by many things trying to retrieve your inventory from your last death position which would cause you to lose a lot of progress if you got killed before you could retrieve your inventory items :( trust me this 2nd DLC is stupid hard in so many places instant death more than any other area of Dark Souls 1 + 2 its very unfair on the player............

I see what your saying, thanks!

At this point in my playthrough, souls arent too important as im staying at level 150 really but i can see that being a problem for characters that want to keep leveling for sure

I love a challenge but if its deliberatly unfair, then they may have gone wrong with this dlc! Ill play more today and let u know how i get on!

Im playing it on ng+++++ and I havent found any instant death situations! Im dying a fair bit though as im not summoning, but thats more down to them hitting harder at this level and im only wearing robes. Ive got 5 bonfires. If youre worrying about losing souls, i presume thats what you mean by inventory items, why dont you just put a ring on that keeps your souls and humanity? No point to backing up saves.

You got to the part where you get cursed & have about 2 seconds to react before dying & getting rushed x 3 whilst the curse is killing you rapidly or the part not long after where the floor(s) instant collapse x 4 & then you get rushed x5  thats why I backed up saves it was stupid hard no way to see those instant deaths which were a long way from a bonfire until you take another hidden route get the key & unlock the door to shortcut it.............

First time I played through DLC2 I got fed up dying over & over backing up saves was less hassle to me anyway! Now with a guide it would not be as hard as I would know what was around the corner(s) ;)

The DLC is no harder than any other area in the games. Plus thats what the Ring of Life Protection is for. No reason to be backing up saves at all.

The curse area takes more than 2 seconds to affect you, and you must have rushed that corridor because there is only one enemy at the start and 2 at the bottom of the stairs that dont agro unless you go right next to them. and the floor collapse is not an instant death at all and actually a short cut to the bottom , and then once your at the bottom there is a small ledge you can safely kill the minons on before taking the giant.

yeah, like he said ^^

the part with the curse is simple, take out the enemies then use the smelter wedge at the bottom, yeah you go hollow and end up with 50% health bar, or you could use the ring which limits health loss when hollow, I did it with 50% health.
The floor collapse only happens if you walk over the blatantly obvious sections of floor that scream 'I am going to collapse', if you start at the top room with the chest and choose your drops you can do it floor by floor leaving the giant on his own

Perfectly smooth and bug free so far (2 hours or so in game) with an x360 pad and really surprised with some of the negative reviews about the port. The load times all round are very fast. Maxed at 1080p with the gem-fx graphics mod I'm at a constant what seems like locked 60fps - that or vsync can't be disabled. Whilst it's no Crysis 3, the game looks great with just a basic mod like this. As a whole it seems leagues ahead of DS1 in many ways although I'm not far in.
