Dark Souls 2 - Thread

I've not played the first Dark Souls, watched a few videos here and there. I'm very interested in getting Dark Souls 2 though. Do you think I could just jump straight into Dark Souls 2 or should I play the original first?

I am sure that the sequel is going to be fantastic. You wont necessarily need to know the lore of the first game to understand it, but my question is this. When the cd key is so cheap these days (less than a fiver in some instances) why deny yourself one of the best gaming experiences that can be had????? Do the right thing and buy the first one. You wont regret it.

The closer to release the more ****ed off I get about the release date. I thought maybe this time I could join in the discussion about new areas, secrets, good weapons that kind of thing but no, let's leave it until a ****ing week before release to announce it when only the standard edition is available at a decent price so I'll end up losing ~£15 quid if I end up buying the game twice. Had they not faffed around I'd have just bought the PS3 collectors edition when it was £65 on Amazon and sold it on most likely for the same price when the PC version came out. I know it sounds like I'm whining too much over a few quid but it just ****es me off.

Reviews are in for the console versions, making the pc wait seem even longer. I have to go ps3 i cant hold off :)

Sounds great getting 9+ most places

I'll probably just end up going into town on Friday and picking it up. Will keep the PC Collectors Edition sealed and buy a cheap CD key when the game is released. Least that way if I sell my PS3 copy I won't lose out on any money hopefully.

I've decided to keep my PS3 preorder as I don't want to wait so long for the PC release. If I really enjoy it then I'll decide later if I want the PC version as well or not.

It's by far my most anticipated game this year! So to be honest if it turns out to be that great then I don't mind throwing more of my money at them haha

I tend to avoid sites like Metacritic as it's pretty much a cesspool of inante reviews. Will have a look at them soon, now just to wait for the PC version... :(

Their system also breaks for a lot of PC games that change significantly over time :/ As I'm mainly a PC gamer I tend to take it with a grain of salt.
