Dark Souls 3

Nice little loot find:

Where the dragon comes down and blows his fire everywhere, time your run just after his fire goes out and go into the tower, there is a mimic chest down below that drops a nice axe with shadow damage

never played the DS series but heard good things?

worth picking up and also whats the gameplay like?

If you don't want spoilers watch some Bloodborne gameplay. The combat is similar, but with tons more weapons. Bloodborne didn't even have shields or magic.

You have to dodge/avoid attacks and time your attacks well so you don't get hit. You will die over and over again at first and it will take time to get used to. It's not just a hack and slash, much more skill involved.

I believe there are more rpg elements in Dark Souls so you can play it many different ways, have a look at http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/PvE+Builds+(player+vs.+engine) - so many different ways to build your character and every weapon type is different.

On a positive note:

I'm playing on a OC'd 2500k and 290x, and get solid 60fps without stutter or any other problems.

Feels like a cross between Demon Souls & DS1, and possibly the best of the series (inc. Bloodborne).

Anyone interested would be best watching some Twitch streams, rather than someone trying to describe the game play.

Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, Parry, victory

Just don't try and parry his jumping or charged sheath attack thingy, they aren't parryable it seems and kinda hurt. :p

My shield isn't great at parrying, but he's down! What a tough fight lol. I found that rolling into his attack and then spamming R1 attach with my Scimitar staggered him enough to get a chain of 5 attacks off. Then roll away, rinse and repeated. Made my partner jump when I shouted "YESSSS" after killing him!!!

I'm liking the arts of the Uchi, so cool! But, I'm taking way too much damage at the moment, it's either a case of 'git gud' or get better armour.

I originally wanted to be a bow assassin, but bows are not as fast as I'd hoped. So that's out the window :(

Also, no chance of me doing the first boss solo on thief starting class, had 2 summons help me. Which was flawless summoning people.

Tonight, I'll take out the fatty going in circles below the black demon mob on the roof by the crystal lizard. Then the blue caped knight with red eyes. Hopefully have enough souls after that to buy the 20k dungeon key to release the NPC.

Thennnnnnnn I'll move to the next area, I've got all the loot infront of the dragon, wondering if I can cheaply kill the dragon using a bow...

It's tough and doesn't provide a huge amount of guidance but for me I love the series and after 9 hours of play so far, this is a fantastic addition.

That's one of my favorite things, working things out, where to go, manually mapping out the area in my mind, thinking of places I've been, not been, what to do to make sure I collect all the goodies.

Wouldn't be souls if there was '?'s above NPC's with a minimap and highlighted quest hand in zones.

Game has some strange micro-stuttering which is giving me severe headaches. I can play other PC games for 12 hours with no problem but DS3 for some reason is giving me a bad headache :(

And this sums up the souls games. No other game gives me the satisfaction like this.

There are a lot of issues reported, all from crashing to stuttering and bad framerate, so yet again another bad console port (yes yes, I know it might work fine on your machine).

I have a 5820k and 2x980ti, and I get 30-40 fps with the CPU at stock speed (I prefer the silence), if I OC it to 4.375 it run at 55-60fps mostly.
There is also extreme stuttering when loading textures/saving the game (with an SSD), so if I ex. turn around fast there is heavy stuttering, which is super fun during a bossfight...

I would definitely wait until the 1.1 patch, which should increase performance, and is supposed to be released "soon"

God you must be running at 4k or something to only get 30-40fps on 2 x 980ti, a single 970 maxes this game out easily and never go below 60fps at 1080P.

It's so sadistic lol, love it.

Agree 100%, I'm running at 1080p, 980ti, i5 3570k @ 4Ghz... The fps has been sat at 60 without a single budget/dip and I'm running everything at max. I'm not on the latest drivers however... Can't remember exact version, I'll post later with them.

Really??? Hated NPC invasions in DS1, they were 'too' easy. If they are anything like the katana nut job at firelink shrine, then I can't wait :)

lol You going to go dexterity with that weapon? +1 it and the dexterity scales to C :) I've summoned a mad sign, went with weapon art on longsword, beating the living daylights out of him until a few enemies turned up and ganked me. Hate invaders who wait in a crowd of enemies as a trap, death in 2 seconds if you fall for it, and I don't like these fast characters who just want to back stab, no skill.
